Are you a member of [Hiker Direct?](www.hiker direct.com) Alps Mountaineering is a solid name brand company that offers steep discounts to scouts. Anyone associated with a troop can make an account and get great discounts on lots of good gear. Their Merrimack and Taurus tents (the standard two pole dome tent options) are about the same price as Ozark Trail’s stuff on there and significantly higher quality. Their Lynx backpacking tent was Field and Stream magazine’s favorite backpacking tent last year. I like mine a lot. My troop has a set of Merrimacks that I can’t speak highly enough for the money. Regardless of what you do, I always tell folks to stay away from gimmicky shapes and moving parts. The classic two pole dome tent is replicated by a million different companies for a reason. Ozark Trail, Academy’s store brands, Coleman, etc. all make versions of that design that should get you through several years of scout camping if you take care of them. (Shameless plug: If you’re not a member, I can get you $5 off with a referral code from my troop’s account before you make an account. Send me a DM and I’ll hook you up.)
r/BSA • Tent recommendations ->I have an Alps Mountaineering one-person that has that. They make other sizes though, for example: https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/reviews/camping-and-hiking/backpacking-tent/alps-mountaineering-lynx-2
r/CampingandHiking • Backpacking tent with a window in the rain fly? ->I have an Alps Mountaineering Lynx 2 that can often be found on sale. I also have the 1 person version and think that they're decent, simple 2 pole dome tents. r/camping • Good mid priced 2p lightweight tent recs? ->I use the 1 person for backpacking and the 2 person for car camping. I've had more expensive tents and the Alps seem just as well made, IMO.
r/camping • Good mid priced 2p lightweight tent recs? ->[Alps Mountaineering Lynx 4](https://www.target.com/p/alps-mountaineering-lynx-4-person-tent/-/A-91843717) I have the Lynx 1 and Lynx 2 and think AM tents are a great value.
r/camping • Looking for 4 person waterproof tent on a budget ->It’s a legit company and a good tent. I would take a look at the Alps Mountaineering Lynx 2 or Lynx 4 if I were you. Remington brand tents are white labeled Alps Mountaineering and on sale right now. The people I’ve camped with have found the Big Agnes and REI Half Dome mentioned elsewhere in these comments to be overrated. Are you more into backpacking camping or car camping?
r/CampingGear • Looking for a tent, this price seems really good but maybe too good to be true. Does anybody here have any experience with this tent/brand? I'm looking to camp in semi-wet/rainy conditions as I live in the Pacific Northwest. any other recommendations besides this product are more than welcome :) ->My top 5 recos would be that you go for either: - REI Co-op Trail Hut 2 - Big Agnes C Bar 2 - Nemo Hornet 2P - Durston X-Mid 2 - ALPS Mountaineering Lynx 2 All lightweight, 3 season and packable but you can also try [11 Best 2-Persons Tent for Camping and Backpacking](https://alaskanarrows.com/11-best-2-person-tent-camping-and-backpacking/) for other options in that $350 price range. Your options are pretty good too and I’d second the Trail Hut anytime too! Hope this helps out a little.
r/camping • Looking for new tent recommendations! ->Excellent recommendation! I really like my Alps Lynx 2. Love the ease of use and two doors and vestibules. Plus the little extra length (the Lynx is 7' 6") helps keep your bag from touching tent walls. https://preview.redd.it/t7eefz5w8myc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9be142262e332424b139140255433c3f789ab15e
r/camping • Good mid priced 2p lightweight tent recs? ->Those pop up tents are pretty dope ngl, especially if you’re just getting going and not expecting any gnarly weather. 5 Below has one for $15. I use the LYNX2 backpack tent. It’s lightweight and roomy for 1. Easy and quick to put up after a couple tries. Even still I get jealous of them lil pop ups though hahaha
r/camping • Tent recommendations ->2 man Lynx for just me or me and a kid. 4 man Timberline for me and the wife or me and a few kids. 6 man Coleman for me and all 3 kids and dogs. 25yr old 23ft camper (with the bathroom ripped out and bunk beds added) if it's all of us for more than a few days lol.
r/CampingGear • What are a few styles/sizes of tent that every serious camper should own? ->alps mountaineering gang chiming in. lynx "backpacking" tents have impressed all of my friends when car camping. ive accidentally kicked the side of it, stepped on the side with the rainfly on, and dragged cots across the bottom and still haven't damaged it lol
r/CampingGear • Help finding new tent ->I am a member, the one I was looking at (Camp Creek) got really bad reviews on the zipper. So I reached out to see if it’s been upgraded. My 2 man is an Alps and I love it, but it’s really low.
r/BSA • Tent recommendations ->It's heavier due to the material being 68 denier, which is going to make it more durable. At 4lbs I would look at Alps Mountaineering for a 2 person tent at roughly the same weight, price point, and with a footprint tossed in.
r/CampingGear • How is this tent for beginners? ->I kind of have a soft spot for and like this style of tent (I had an alps brand 2p version that i used for myself and my dog, it was reasonably priced), but I gave mine to a friend in favor of switching to an "ultralight" freestanding tent instead. If i was only planning to camp in places where i knew i would be able to stake into the ground I might have kept it.
r/CampingGear • Looking into getting my first real tent, would this be suitable? ->I have never used an Ozark Trail tent, but I have used other store brand tents. My experience is the difference between a cheap tent and a half decent tent is waking up with a puddle in your tent. I recommend an Alps Mountaineering tent, but they will run you 100-150.
r/camping • Whats the cheapest 2 man tent you would recommend for someone who is looking to get into camping for the first time? ->No. Just get an Alps Mountaneering and save yourself a lot of aggravation.
r/camping • Ozark Trail Tent Experience? ->
