Spacious vestibule, strong in storms, but rainfly tricky solo.

I have the Bunkhouse4. It is awesome and is absolutely palatial as a single man. Easy to set up solo as well. The rain fly is bomber but limits the ventilation slightly. You'll appreciate it on heavy rain days. I got it on sale for ~$400. Extremely awesome value at that kind of discount.
The 4 is probably the one for you. You'd be absolutely swimming in the 6. The 4 is 90"x92" for the interior floor. In my mind if you put two cots together and a double mattress you might eat up too much of the center of the tent. You would have room in there but it would be towards one side, where the ceiling height is lower. I feel like it would be taking too much of the valued high-ceiling real estate where you get to stand up to change clothes. How wide is the mattress? How tall are you and the lady?
>big agnes bunk house 6 I have the 4 and I have no regrets about purchasing it.
The Big Agnes Bunk House is solid ime. I've used the 4 person version and it's got great headroom, easy setup, and packs down smaller than the Gazelle. The Nemo Aurora is similarly nice, slightly different design but same idea.
We have a big Agnes bunk house (4person) for our family of 4. Heaps of room inside, great headroom, plenty of storage in front and rear vestibules. And the fly can be used independently from the tent as a shade or beach shelter. Highly rate it
Big Agnes 4 person tent is great! Bunk house 4 I think its called. It should fit right in your budget, relatively Compact and smaller than something like the T4 Gazzele's (I have one of them too). We winter camp in the Big A as well. We use it for 2 of us with PLENTY of usable room inside. Has a really nice, long rain fly, vestibule front and back, interior pockets and good ventilation. Highly recommended!
The answer is it depends, however when you ask if anyone will frown on it I can honestly save I've never given a single care about what size tent someone else is using at a campground. I just mind my business. Your biggest concerns will be making sure your campsite has a space large enough to accommodate your giant tent (many won't) and how big of a pain it will be to setup and takedown tents that large. I have a 6 person tent for car camping with my wife and it feels giant when you include the large vestibule. I would check out some 6-8 person tents before settling on a 10-12. Staying under 8 person will keep a lot more campsite options open for you. If you care to look I have a Big Agnes Bunk House 6 and it's amazing.
Big agnes bunk house 6. Loving it so far, about 10 trips later
Bunk house is awesome, sturdy, roomy, ventilates well and can stand up to strong winds and downpour. It takes about 15 minutes to setup with two people. We have a 6p. It is heavy though, I hope you aren't planning to hike with it. As for the snowpeak while I have no experience with that tent I've never seen anything bad from snow peak. Their products quality is top notch. If you trying to be mobile I'm not sure tents this big are a good choice. Copper spur can be setup in 2 minutes and they have a 5p version
