"I took a lightweight Big Agnes bikepacking tent on a long 1.5 year trip on the PanAmerica and it did great."
"Survived all the crazy winds in Patagonia."
"The BA held out the entire AT and 200+ miles of the PCT. ... It's definitely a good tent, despite last night's failures I would recommend the BA TW for a reliable thru hiking tent."

"The reason our crew used them was because they weigh a combined total of 3 pounds, so it only added 1 lb to each person’s pack."
"still pack to around 3.5lbs on the trail."
"very light for the size."

"It is basically the same sent, but the difference is having two side entrances on the Tiger Wall vs. a single rear entrance on the Fly Creek. ... With two adults (especially two adults and two kids), you'll be tripping over each other if you do not make having _two side entrances_ a must-have feature for a _backpacking_ tent."

"The poles snapped and several lines broke and one buckle broke last night on my Big Agnes Tiger Wall while on my thru hike. ... Yes it was wind failure, the tent was pitched with the BA label facing the wind - wind changed direction around 2am and the gusts were too much for the tent to handle. I'm uncertain of the gust speed, perhaps 40-50 mph at the Wind Farm close to White River, CA."
"Personally snapped a three season tent on rainier from the wind a few seasons ago. Granted it was a big Agnes tiger wall."

"I found the fabric very delicate and needing of a ground sheet, more so than my other backpacking tents."
"Only damage to any of the tents (first time out in a brand new UL3) was when I walked away with the dog in the tent and she paw'd at the screen and ripped it."

"aren’t robust enough for Scottish winter"
"It’s not meant to withstand a lot of heavy snow"

"It’s annoying to set up, so wouldn’t recommend for someone new. ... It doesn’t have the 3-point pole connection which makes the Tiger Wall annoying."

"Big Agnes quoted me $109.99 for a new poleset (plus postage to the UK) which seemed too much. ... They did mention I could buy individual segments for cheaper, but that's still a lot of money because of the postage"
Big agnes tiger wall ul3 bikepack version is small enough to carry inside my 45l pack and still bring enough food and gear for 5 day winter trip.. it's an expensive tent if you don't have a discount, but you can look for other bikepacking tents as they're all designed to pack up small.
r/backpacking • 2-person tent for one person ->I have the tiger wall UL3 for my 2p backpacking trips. I found the fabric very delicate and needing of a ground sheet, more so than my other backpacking tents. It’s not a perfect tent, but it’s a great tent. I personally don’t like trekking pole tents, and I tend to feel more claustrophobic in them.
r/Ultralight • Tent advice - Big Agnes tiger wall vs Durston x-mid 2 vs Gossemear gear the 2 ->Hey Dan, happy holidays. I just sold my Xmid solid tent as I'm a bit frustrated pitching them on soft soil/sand. I went back using BA Tiger Wall UL3 while I'm waiting for your free standing 2p dome tent. Just want to know if 2x regular wide thermarests (64cm Width) will fit inside? Just making sure otherwise we'll continue to use our current tent perfect for 2 people. Thanks mate
r/Ultralight • Durston X-Dome 1+ - First Impressions? ->Big Agnes makes amazing tents. I have the tiger wall ul3. Checks all your boxes. The 3 person would be better especially if you want any extra room. I use this whenever I have a trip with my partner. It’s perfect for us.
r/backpacking • Recommendations for a Two-Person Backpacking Tent ->I use a Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL3 when backpacking with my gf. It isn't the lightest tent option, but it's basically a palace. It can be setup fly first if needed and isn't that complicated. Has enough space inside for 2 wide mats and all of our gear.
r/Ultralight • 2 person tent recommendations ->Perhaps decide first which type of tent is for you. (1) trekking pole (usually A-frame) (2) (semi?) freestanding; (3) tunnel (usually when camping in more challenging weather). Within each category, materials, weight and price should point to what's right for you (DCF is lighter, more expensive, may not last as long as silpoly). We've used trekking pole tents (Zpacks Duplex) for several years. More recently felt that semi-freestanding was a better idea. (BA Tiger Wall 3P; when I travel solo, Nemo Hornet 2P). If weight is secondary vs strength -- Hilleberg tents (tunnel) have an excellent reputation.
r/backpacking • Recommendations for a Two-Person Backpacking Tent ->I actually have both the Tiger Wall 3p and the X-Mid 2p, and use both regularly. If you use trekking poles, the X-Mid is the pick. If you don't the Tiger Wall is the pick. I like the vestibules on the X-Mid a bit more, but appreciate the semi-freestanding nature of the Tiger Wall. Both are storm worthy. All that said: for me, the deciding factor is the trekking poles.
r/Ultralight • Tent advice - Big Agnes tiger wall vs Durston x-mid 2 vs Gossemear gear the 2 ->I have a nature hike monger 2p. It’s a great beginner tent, weighs just under 5lbs. Thought for the price point the quality was really good. I used it for 3 years, then finally upgraded to the Big Agnes Tiger Wall 3p.
r/backpacking • Does anyone have 2 person Tent recommendations? ->I took a lightweight Big Agnes bikepacking tent on a long 1.5 year trip on the PanAmerica and it did great. Survived all the crazy winds in Patagonia. Ants chewed some small holes in it in Costa Rica, but I bought some tent repair tape before the trip and that easily patched the small holes. Towards the end of the trip I was very rough putting it up one night and snapped a pole but I used one of the tent repair splints they give you and it seemed completely structurally fine with that, even in strong wind again. I'm actually taking the same broken pole and hole-y rainfly on my next long trip too because I think it will hold no problem. --------------- Previously I was using a heavy UK camping shop own-brand tent and it the actual tent material felt thicker and more durable... but it was 3x the weight.
r/bicycletouring • Ultralight tent durabilty ->I almost bought this one but went with the UL Tigerwall instead. Definitely the right call.
r/bikepacking • Anyone using the big Agnes bikepacking hotel tents. ->Big Agnes. Our family of 3 takes the UL3 on trips. My daughter took a UL2 on the AT.
r/backpacking • Recommendations for a Two-Person Backpacking Tent ->I just bought both of these. Steep and cheap had the tiger wall on sale for $160 so it seemed like a great back up to have
r/CampingandHiking • How much should you pay for a high quality one-person tent? ->It’s a good tent, very light for the size. I have a tigerwall by them and I am happy.
r/backpacking • Half price Deal? Big Agnes UL HV Copper Spur $287 ->Tiger Wall is the GOAT tent. Light, 3 season but can be taken to below freezing, strong AF. I would note that if you are buying a 2 person tent, buy the 3 person tigerwall, not the 2
r/hikinggear • Best tent with full mesh? ->General comment on the BA Fly Creek: If you're considering the Fly Creek, get the Tiger Wall instead. It is basically the same sent, but the difference is having two side entrances on the Tiger Wall vs. a single rear entrance on the Fly Creek. With two adults (especially two adults and two kids), you'll be tripping over each other if you do not make having _two side entrances_ a must-have feature for a _backpacking_ tent. If you were getting a car camping tent, which would be much larger and spacious, you could get away with a single entrane. But not a backpacking tent. TL;DR - Fly Creek is a great tent, just probably not the right design for your application.
r/Ultralight • Tent recommendations for camping with toddlers ->Do you meant the PCT? Never heard of the CBT, but I certainly don’t know all the trails out there. I hiked the PCT last year with a big Agnes tigerwall and it was fantastic. Found mine used for a great deal, but I believe even new they are probably close to your $500 limit. Lots and lots of Durstons on trail also tho, and the folks I talked to loved theirs so that seems like a solid choice too. No experience with the other brands tho, other than a montbell fleece that I love. Condensation is more a factor of inside vs outside temps than precipitation, although you should be prepared for some soggy, foggy days especially towards the end of September.
r/backpacking • Best Ultralight tent for CBT in washington ->I also got that Tiger Wall sale. It’s gonna be my “friend wants to try backpacking” tent.
r/CampingandHiking • How much should you pay for a high quality one-person tent? ->Personally snapped a three season tent on rainier from the wind a few seasons ago. Granted it was a big Agnes tiger wall. Upgraded to a mountain hardware tango and it’s great.
r/Mountaineering • Tent recommendations for PNW summers ->One thing I’d add is that I already have a 1P MSR Hubba and a Big Agnes Tiger Wall, both I love and find comfy / spacious but they aren’t robust enough for Scottish winter. I’m thinking the MSR Access 1 may have been a better choice for my palatial headroom desires ! (For a similar budget as the Abisko) I do love hanging out in the tent. ⛺️
r/wildcampingintheuk • First night in the Fjällräven Abisko Lite 1 - I confess to feeling cramped! ->I have the XMid Pro 2 and backpack with one of our huskies almost every trip. Mika is 45lbs, Max is 50lbs. Just one dog and me fit easily with extra room for gear. Two people and one of our dogs would work but be tight. (replaced a Strat Li but below applies to both tents) To protect the floor, I bring a full size z-fold pad (generic z-lite). I cut it into two pieces - about 1/3 and 2/3rds. I place them together to put where the dog will be sleeping. I cut it into two pieces so that I can use the 2/3rd piece under my pad in the event I get cold. They can still use the 1/3rd. I lay a costco quilt over the top of the pad. The like to "dig" sometimes. Between the pad and quilt, it protects the floor long enough until I can tell them to stop. For just casual walking in and out of the tent, laying down etc, there would be no need to protect the floor. Kneeling on a sharp rock or stick would probably do more damage than a dog stepping on the floor. We also have a Big Agnes UL2 and UL3 we've used for people and dogs. Only damage to any of the tents (first time out in a brand new UL3) was when I walked away with the dog in the tent and she paw'd at the screen and ripped it. Luckily, she hit the pocket so it didn't affect the door.
r/Ultralight • Beginner Tent Recommendations ->I have the 3 person which fits my wife and I with gear nicely (we are both tall). Given the weight it was worth for comfort on multi-day hikes. Good tent. I think I paid $300ish for the 3 person years ago so they do go on sale.
r/backpacking • Half price Deal? Big Agnes UL HV Copper Spur $287 ->Can’t go wrong with a Big Agnes and at that price I’d definitely scoop it up. Me personally I’d try to get a 3P. I just upgraded to a 3P from my REI half dome 2.5P tent that I’d used for over a decade. I wanted a little more room for me and my pup. Additionally I’m right at 6’ tall and I always struggled to keep my feet or head off the sidewalls when I was sleeping.
