Cabelas Alaskan Guide Six Person. Been in some serious rain and wind storms. I got the Aluminum Pole model.

r/overlandingThe rooftop tents may have all the glory, but can we discuss car tents as the little-known low-budget ones no one pays attention to?

If you are over landing and just driving all day a roof top could make sense for some. In a campground rtt’s seem pointless. If I am staying for more then two days someplace I set up my Cabelas six man guide tent. If I am weekend camping REI 1/2 dome four person. Easy to set up and roomy.

Cabelas Alaskan Guide Six Person. You won’t get wet. Get the version with aluminum poles. I have had mine for 15 years. Has yet to fail me.

r/campingWhat size tent should I buy?

I have a six person Cabelas Alaskan Guide. Great tent for the elements and plenty of room. Two cots a chair and a folding table. When the kids were young queen size air mattress and two sleeping pads for kids. Plenty of room even with the dog. It’s overkill for campground Camping but you won’t get wet. As I get older bigger doors to get in and out. I have had the tent 2012

Cabelas six or 8 Alaskan Guide Tent. I have owned this tent for 15 years. Did lots of family camping and kept us dry. Backpacking I just use the rei 1/2 dome. Seam seal it. However my hard core backpacking day are behind me.

r/campingLooking for a great quality tent that will last many many years, for a family of 8, ok with using 2 Tents. (Car camping)

We’ve use a Cabella’s Guide Series dome tent for 16 years. Been through 5-6” of rain and 70+ mph winds. No water intrusion ever. Big, expensive, heavy. Worth every penny.

Haha I meant like do you want more fabric or bug screens for the walls - I would never have a tent with just open walls. If it’s a hot place you want as much bug screening as possible for ventilation. The Nemo Highrise is a nice tent you can stand up in. Nemo is overall a highly reputable company and will stand behind their products. I have their backpacking tents. I have a friend that has the North Face wawaona 6P that he has had no complaints with. Someone else mentioned a Cabelas guide tent which I have (the cheaper green model) it’s a way more structurally bomb-proof tent, but has less ventilation and you cannot stand up in the 4P model. It will be warmer though if you camp in cooler weather and handle weather a ton better than taller tents. Big Agnes is another brand to consider too.

We talking car camping then? The Cabela’s Guide tents are very durable.

r/CampingGearOk need advice on tents, I have 4 tents I'm looking at, no specific everimont since I travel to different states. It dose need to be 4 season

Same here. The Cabela’s alaskan guide tents are great, but heavy. Definitely wouldn’t want to backpack with one. I’ve got a North Face, can’t remember the name but it’s their version of the rei half dome. Bought it used in the early 2000s and it’s still going strong.
