I’ve got a Coleman excursion - it’s withstood some pretty serious weather and I like it because if I have to put it up in the rain it stays dry inside. Have wrecked dome tents I could stand up in in the rain. Also have had a black wolf turbo - lasted about 10 years and then tapes came off etc - could manage to erect/pull down that one easily too. Coleman less bulky. https://www.bcf.com.au/p/coleman-excursion-instant-tent-4-person/623683.html?utm_content=paidsearch-pmax&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20489192054&gbraid=0AAAAADkTRtGHw8e6Ozfi-Fg9Xb6f8FPGo&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2PemlZSjkgMVzR2DAx2g6SHKEAQYASABEgLhE_D_BwE I also like the vestibule for stashing chair etc overnight
I have the Coleman easy up 4, but for me and my child. I don’t love the blackout and don’t use it that much. If it’s just you get a hiking tent or swag. Over time the instant up tents start to twist on the mechanism, happens to my friends and is starting to happen to mine. I love it but when travelling solo I would use something smaller.
I've used 4,6,8 man Coleman Instant Tents for years. Goes up in about 3 minutes, comes down in about 8 minutes (you have to roll it and smash it back in the carrying bag.
Like others have said getting a 2-3 person tent is good enough for a solo but… I like the Colman’s Easy Up 4-person tent. It’s a cabin tent so its bigger than your normal dome tent. I got one for my mom because she is getting older and needs something that she can set up easily by herself and can stand up in. it is a bit heavy but if you can handle the extra weight its worth it. I will always recommend Colman for beginning/casual campers because they are fairly inexpensive and the quality it pretty good for the price. Though they may not be that good in harsh weather conditions. If you don’t need the head space a simple dome tent will do you and will be less headache to put up and down. Also recommend buying a cheap tarp for rain cover. Helps shade your tent and keeps it bone dry.
Instant cabin from Walmart. I think Coleman or ozark trail, $100-$200. I’ve been shocked at how easy it is to set up and how well it holds up to weather. It’s taken hail, thunderstorms, dumbassery, and late nights very well
I have a Coleman instant up cabin tent and it’s completely waterproof. I suspect your tent is flawed and should be returned
