I have a Coleman Instant Cabin 6 person tent and love it for ease of setup. I can setup solo in under 10 minutes. I've had it 6 or 7 years and use 3 ir 4 times a year. My son and I use when we camp at the paintball field. Our cots, camping gear, and paintball gear all fit in just fine. I've slept three grown men in it and had plenty of space. Right now it's on sale on Amazon for $139, which is a steal IMO.
r/camping • Best tent brand? ->I still have this Coleman. I like the tent but it can't accommodate my disabilities so I upgraded. [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004E4ERHA](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004E4ERHA)
r/BSA • Tent recommendations ->We have two cots and use the [Coleman 6 Instant Cabin](https://www.coleman.com/tents-canopies/tents-by-size/6-person-instant-cabin/SAP_2206913.html). It's not very light, but it's really comfortable and it goes up fast. It''s been really reliable. For some reason, the rain fly is sold separately and you really need it. This is with two cots pushed together, but you could do one on either side with an aisle up the middle. And sorry the rain fly is on wonky, we were in a hurry. We have had it almost ten years and only had one problem with it, after about five years the door zipper wasn't holding. I took a pair of pliers and crimped the zipper tighter on each side and it fixed that problem. https://preview.redd.it/6sey3srkagee1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffddd95e5d66d72e4a22fdb959596026ddca9740
r/camping • Recommendations for a tent for two cots ->I’ve found you need to double the tent size for example 2 person fits one comfortably 4 person fits two etc. For reference I use a Coleman 6 person instant cabin tent. I solo camp with my two cats. I fit a wide cot two small tables their litterbox . Plenty of room. For you and your wife go for a 6 person . The price difference is negligible and comfort is key
r/camping • Any reason not to get a bigger tent. ->My Coleman 6p instant cabin tent is like 35 lbs +/- sets up in a minute
r/camping • Any reason not to get a bigger tent. ->I second the Coleman 6-Person Instant Cabin Tent. Ollie's had them on sale for $70 recently. I love it, it's easy to set up, sturdy and very roomy.
r/camping • Best pop up tent? ->THANK YOU!! I bought a used Coleman Instant cabin 6-person for $90 in great condition.
r/BurningMan • Annual tent recommendation thread ->Pop-up tents will be easier and quicker to setup, but they will weight significantly more and have huge pack sizes (Gazelles, Coleman EZUp Cabin etc). This might actually cause more arthritis problems that just getting a free standing backpacking tent. Gazelles are huge and require a larger SUV or truck to transport the tent. Backpacking tents however are "crawl in tents", which of course could inflame the arthritis every time you have to crouch and crawl into the tent. A compromise might be a 4p family camping tent like the Marmot Halo 4p, Marmot Limestone 4p etc. These can be easilly setup by one person and some models, like the MSR Habbiscape 4p and Big Agnes Bunk House 4p, are full standing height.
r/CampingGear • Can anyone suggest a tent that is easy to put up and pack down ->Coleman Instant cabin tent
r/BurningMan • Annual tent recommendation thread ->Coleman Instant cabin tent is the go-to budget playa tent.
r/BurningMan • Annual tent recommendation thread ->I'm 5'6" and I can stand up in my Coleman Instant Cabin.
r/camping • 4 Man tent with space to stand up ->I would recommend a Coleman Instant Cabin. 4 person or 6 person. Make sure you get the rain fly accessory. I have used this tent in all conditions including heavy snow and it’s surprisingly durable for the cost. I’m 6’4” and can stand up in it. https://www.coleman.com/tents-canopies/tents-by-size/6-person-instant-cabin/SAP_2157803.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=oe_col_DTCSearch_2024&utm_term=conversion&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD0GYNrORZoDaJ5GCrNIcIWJ13RZc&gclid=Cj0KCQiAu8W6BhC-ARIsACEQoDBPykcFSxwrB7SB-OJ7JRGrplMf_e2pFKKYiHMkRC7Dpc9WNorqo60aAlACEALw_wcB&actionPoint=Show
r/CampingGear • Looking for a tent for a 6’5” man to stand up in. Suggestions? ->I've had a Coleman 6 man Instant Tent for the past 8 years or so. No poles, everything is attached. Goes up in about three minutes. Comes down and is packed away in about five. Has done fine in the occasional passing downpour with the rain fly on.
r/camping • Best pop up tent? ->I have a Kelty 2 man tent with double vestibule from the mid 90s that I still rock for a long hike-in camping weekend. I love that thing. BUT my folks got my family a 6 person Coleman “insta” tent that I now use for car camping, even if I’m the only one in it with friends having their own tent. Standing up in and having a camp chair that stays in that tent all weekend is a freaking game changer.
r/camping • Is it worth it as a couple to buy a "bigger" tent for car camping? ->Also 6'1". Coleman instant tent 4 man I can almost stand in, 6 man I can but it's huge and heavy. Super easy to put up, but you're not doing anything but car camp with one. They're not bad in price when on sale. Highly recommend the optional rain fly if you camp in anything worse than light rain.
r/BSA • Tent recommendations ->Agreed. They have (or at least had) a line of instant up tents, I think 6 and 8 person. I have done lots of tent camping and they really are easy to put up and pack away. Highly recommend them!
r/camping • Fairly cheap tent for a family of five ->Coleman 60 seconds Popup. Costco has a similar style for some really good prices.
r/camping • What brand of tent do you guys have? ->I’m partial to the Coleman 60 Second Tent line.
r/camping • What’s everyone’s favorite tent? ->I use a larger pop up tent, and it really is quick and easy. Id say the only downside is they're heavier and bulkier to carry around.
r/camping • Has anyone here tried this "three sec" tent? Thoughts? ->Coleman cabin tent instant set up I believe is the name of it. Very spacious and easy set up, have had it for about 5 years now.
r/camping • Has anyone here tried this "three sec" tent? Thoughts? ->I bought the Coleman instant 6 person tent. It was easy to stand up and tough to get back in the carry case. It’s right for two people with glampiny equipment but seems like a super sturdy buy for this first time camper
r/camping • Thinking getting Coleman Sundome as a starter tent. Recommenbations? ->Gazelles look great and many people have mentioned them, but I have used a Coleman 6 person instant for years and it's been great.
r/camping • Popup tent recommendation, 4persons ->We got a Coleman Cabin for our family of 6. The screened in porch with a floor is probably the best thing ever.
r/camping • 6 or 10 person tent for family ->I’m looking to get a new tent. I’ve had an orange Coleman 6 man popup tent for the last 13 years but it’s finally falling apart. I have been looking at the gazelle tents (can’t decide between the T3x & the T4), but today I just found this Timber Ridge hub tents online. They’re a lot cheaper, but I can’t really find any reviews on them.
r/CampingGear • Tent recommendations ->The orange Coleman tent was giving to me for free, and it lasted for 13 years. So I have zero complaints.
r/CampingGear • Tent recommendations ->I have one of the basic coleman pop up tents, 6P. Reading your comment has me interested in upgrading as it's used quite a lot. Looking at the pictures of the core online it looks to be a pretty identical design. Do you think the quality of the core would be worth upgrading? Mine isn't super great quality but has held up for four years of use, it's maybe slightly better than basic big box store tent quality.
r/camping • Is it worth it as a couple to buy a "bigger" tent for car camping? ->Let the 9 year old help keep an eye on the 4 year old. My kids have had their own tent since they were 4 (twins). We put a bell on the zipper so we could hear if they opened the flap. Never had any issues and they’re 11 now. They started in a little 2 man adult backpacking tent I had, then graduated to the Coleman 6 man tent that my wife and I were using, and we got a nice big cabin tent.
r/camping • Tent camping for family of 4 ->Depends on what you like to do, for car camping I have a Coleman 6 man & for backpacking I have a 2 person Xmid from durston. I’ve never had any issue with either, the Coleman was about 1/3rd the price of the xmid and it comes in very handy when a friend or two wants to tag along on a weekend
r/camping • What brand of tent do you guys have? ->I bought a $90 6 man Coleman that works great. And if my dog accidentally puts a hole somewhere I’m not overly upset.
r/camping • Tent Recommendations for 2 People & 2 Dogs ->2 man Lynx for just me or me and a kid. 4 man Timberline for me and the wife or me and a few kids. 6 man Coleman for me and all 3 kids and dogs. 25yr old 23ft camper (with the bathroom ripped out and bunk beds added) if it's all of us for more than a few days lol.
r/CampingGear • What are a few styles/sizes of tent that every serious camper should own? ->Yes! It’s a game changer. We have an older Coleman 6 person tent for car camping opposed to a half dome for backpacking. When we’re feeling particularly bougie, we’ll bring an air mattress with us and put that down inside of our bigger tent. Makes for a much better sleeping experience
r/camping • Is it worth it as a couple to buy a "bigger" tent for car camping? ->My husband and I use a 6 person coleman tent with a 6' center height. We sleep on cots and like the extra space.
r/camping • Is it worth it as a couple to buy a "bigger" tent for car camping? ->we are about to replace our coleman 6 person because we've used it SO much. had it since 2016. we bought it for a festival, and it's become our car camping tent ever since. we have kelty, alps mountaineering, and rei smaller tents, and love this coleman for everything, not back country.
r/camping • Good tents that fit at least 6 people that are available in Canada? ->It's not a two person but we have a 6 person Coleman tent my 6 ft husband can stand up in. Let me know if you want me to post the link
r/camping • Tent you can stand in comfortably ->Coleman doesn't make them like they used to. We have a giant 2 room Coleman we picked up more than 10 years ago, and it's fantastic. I recently bought a 6 person one for $200 and the hem of the rain fly detached during set up. I returned it.
r/camping • What brand of tent do you guys have? ->I have a 6p Coleman I got from Goodwill for $20 that I used for my two daughters and me. We each had an air mattress/pad and it was really comfy. Gotta remember that if you aren't comfortable, why are you doing it? Only reason not to get one is if you are limited on space. Also, think of this as your hotel room. If you are willing to spend $200-400 for a weekend hotel getaway why not spend that on a nice tent that you'll use over and over. That being said, I have since upgraded to a king size roof tent and have never slept better, lol.
r/camping • Is it worth it as a couple to buy a "bigger" tent for car camping? ->For car camping I like Coleman 6p tents. They’re heavy but durable. I use mine for 2 adults on a queen sized deep air mattress. Have two dogs, a Shepard and a beagle each with their own beds. Plenty of room for us
r/camping • What should I look for when purchasing a tent for 2-3 people? What should I avoid ? ->we have a 6P coleman. it's advertised to fit two queens and while I haven't tried it, I believe it. my family of 4 fits just fine. I think 6p is kind of the practical limit of a camping tent. once you get larger they start to get really unwieldy to set up and you can't always find a spot to fit them.
r/CampingGear • Tent Size recommendation? ->Wouldn’t go to big. Honestly 6p is a great mid range the Coleman is wicked. I just upgraded to a 10p Blackwolf 450 and honestly I prefer the 6p and I have a family of 4. We put two double mattresses in the 6p with a bit of room left for clothes. The Coleman also has a small vestibule we had a mat and shelves for medicine books sunblock etc. Takes me about 45mins to setup the 10p with a bit of mucking around the 6p about 20minutes.
r/camping • Any reason not to get a bigger tent. ->This is the way, I did the same thing and regretted it. I guess you really have to experience it before you know. We have family of 4 and 6p was great.
r/camping • Any reason not to get a bigger tent. ->I’ve used all kinds over the years. I currently have a 6 person Coleman car camping tent and my backpacking tents are all Big Agnes. If I go solo I use a 2p tent and a 3p tent when my wife tags along. We also use 25 inch wide sleeping pads.
r/camping • What brand of tent do you guys have? ->Dude, my first two tents were coleman. Shit man, I still got them and they still work great. Oldest one close to 15 years. I went from a 4P Coleman to 6P Coleman when I had kids. So if you can get one in good condition or buy it.. go for it. I got my coleman sundome for like a 100 bucks. If you don't want a coleman, you can sang one of these from costco for a 100 bucks - https://www.costco.com/core-6-person-lighted-dome-tent.product.100892929.html Now a days I have a Marmot 6P, recognize that this is 500$ tent. Don't spend this kind of money for your first tent unless you have money to spare or plan on going a lot of camping. The difference between a 100$ tent vs a $500 tent are: - More indoor pockets - High quality tent poles - No snag YKK zippers - Easy to pack bag - better ventilation But from a core tent/sleeping POV, its the same. IF and WHEN you are ready to go backpacking, it would be good to invest in lighter smaller gear. A decent backpacking tent is pretty expensive.
