Check out the Coleman instant cabin tents. They go up very fast, tall and roomy. I’ve been camping in one for a few years. A bit leaky in the rain, though. https://www.coleman.com/camp-sports/tents-by-size/6-person-instant-cabin/SAP_2206913.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=oe_col_DTCSearch_2024&utm_term=conversion&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17603302210&gbraid=0AAAAAD0GYNoGixI4V22DXpyQ9DqiNAvUX&actionPoint=Show
Agreed. A rainy weekend will cancel my trip, unfortunately, until I figure out how to stretch a big tarp over the tent. Other than that I love it. A light rain is okay but extended heavier showers will come inside. It’s why I’m leaning more and more towards a trailer in the future.
Let us know what you choose. I have the 6 person instant up Coleman cabin and love it. I can have it pitched in under 60 seconds (yes, I timed it). I’ve started wondering what would replace it, other than another of the same.
I looked up the Gazelle. Looks like a nice tent. Like you I have become very accustomed to the 6-person instant up Coleman cabin tent. The Gazelle has a smaller footprint at 7.8 feet square while the Coleman 6-person is 10x9 feet. That would be rough for me to give up the extra space, as I sleep on a cot with a fold up night table and a chair inside the tent.
My 6-person Coleman instant cabin tent is easily deployed by one person in one minute. I like the extra room. I have a cot, fold up night table, and a chair. It doesn’t feel huge but there’s room for the amenities. I used to have a larger tent but I dumped the wet bar, hot tub, and fax machine.
I do spring and fall car camping in a Coleman Instant cabin tent and have done well. One-person setup is quick and easy. I would advise keeping an extra tarp on hand for a fly if heavier showers pop up. I like being able to stand up in the tent. Edit: I just watched a video for the Wawona 6. While it may be great tent, the reviewer said setup is easier with two people, but doable with one, and it took him about ten minutes. I see lots of poles. That kinda unchecks boxes for me - the Coleman Instant cabin is easily set up with one person. And I’ve done it in one minute, by the clock.
I’m partial to the Coleman instant cabin tent. It’s just me but I have the six person size. I have room for a cot (I don’t sleep on the ground), a night stand (Ozark Trails, folds up into a skinny bag) and a fold-up chair (Harbor Freight version). I like to be able to stand up and the chair holds my clothes overnight. This is what works for me.
I have the Coleman. My only complaint is the rain fly which is too small. The Core looks similar. Does the Core have the tub bottom? Hard to tell from the pictures. This feature has done a good job keeping water out of the Coleman.
I have the coleman cabin exact model. I love the room and screened in porch. Position it right and the breeze flows really nicely. Does take 2 to setup but it's sturdy if you pin the corners down first. I used it camping first time off lake Michigan and I didn't set up up right. Wind broke a pole and coleman wasn't able to send replacement poles so they sent an entire tent free. Great customer service there! I bought this tent from a store called Dunham sports in Michigan on sale for $100. Ive since been able to setup quickly and it's very sturdy. No complaints.
I'm thinking they backed the trailered boat over the tent because, well... our eyesight just becomes worse and worse the older we get. I'd go with a Coleman 6p 10'×10' pop-up. Coleman tents offer good protection at a great price.
I have Coleman 6 person Instant-Cabin with rain fly. Easy to setup under 5 minutes and big enough for a queen size and double air mattresses with room to spare. Knowing that you have a family and your hands will be tied, this ready to deploy tent will be way better experience to set up than traditional tents and push poles. I've had mine for 5 yrs now it's been a breeze setting up. I've patched the floor here and there due to abrasion against sharp rocks and rocky gravel campsites. Overall it has been robust for the price and have dealt with multiple rainstorms (with the rain fly and never had any leaks) and it's still holding up well. Reviews claim that some have leaks during light rain but I have never experienced any.
My Coleman Instant Tent 6 person has been solid for the past 5 years. I can easily set up everything in under 5 minutes.
This is what I came here to say. Walmart Coleman tent for car camping, you could even do the 6 person and get plenty of room
Big tents are great in theory. However, you don’t always have the right space to put them in a campsite. Keep that in mind because the large footprints limits locations to some campsite I would like to go to. I have an instant cabin tent that solved my space issue. It’s a 6 person Coleman. Not too expensive and has held up
