Check out the Coleman instant cabin tents. They go up very fast, tall and roomy. I’ve been camping in one for a few years. A bit leaky in the rain, though. https://www.coleman.com/camp-sports/tents-by-size/6-person-instant-cabin/SAP_2206913.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=oe_col_DTCSearch_2024&utm_term=conversion&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17603302210&gbraid=0AAAAAD0GYNoGixI4V22DXpyQ9DqiNAvUX&actionPoint=Show

Agreed. A rainy weekend will cancel my trip, unfortunately, until I figure out how to stretch a big tarp over the tent. Other than that I love it. A light rain is okay but extended heavier showers will come inside. It’s why I’m leaning more and more towards a trailer in the future.

Let us know what you choose. I have the 6 person instant up Coleman cabin and love it. I can have it pitched in under 60 seconds (yes, I timed it). I’ve started wondering what would replace it, other than another of the same.

I looked up the Gazelle. Looks like a nice tent. Like you I have become very accustomed to the 6-person instant up Coleman cabin tent. The Gazelle has a smaller footprint at 7.8 feet square while the Coleman 6-person is 10x9 feet. That would be rough for me to give up the extra space, as I sleep on a cot with a fold up night table and a chair inside the tent.

My 6-person Coleman instant cabin tent is easily deployed by one person in one minute. I like the extra room. I have a cot, fold up night table, and a chair. It doesn’t feel huge but there’s room for the amenities. I used to have a larger tent but I dumped the wet bar, hot tub, and fax machine.

I do spring and fall car camping in a Coleman Instant cabin tent and have done well. One-person setup is quick and easy. I would advise keeping an extra tarp on hand for a fly if heavier showers pop up. I like being able to stand up in the tent. Edit: I just watched a video for the Wawona 6. While it may be great tent, the reviewer said setup is easier with two people, but doable with one, and it took him about ten minutes. I see lots of poles. That kinda unchecks boxes for me - the Coleman Instant cabin is easily set up with one person. And I’ve done it in one minute, by the clock.

I’m partial to the Coleman instant cabin tent. It’s just me but I have the six person size. I have room for a cot (I don’t sleep on the ground), a night stand (Ozark Trails, folds up into a skinny bag) and a fold-up chair (Harbor Freight version). I like to be able to stand up and the chair holds my clothes overnight. This is what works for me.

I have the Coleman. My only complaint is the rain fly which is too small. The Core looks similar. Does the Core have the tub bottom? Hard to tell from the pictures. This feature has done a good job keeping water out of the Coleman.

We’ve been using a Coleman Instant Cabin 6 for me and my three boys and it’s getting a little tight. Thinking of a Kodiak 10x14 so glad to hear you’ve had a good experience with yours. Thinking of either that or a tipi style but I feel like we’d get more usable floor space for the ground footprint with the rectangle.

The 6 man instant tent is very easy/quick to set up and it's a hearty tent. I have a buddy who uses his "love hotel" when car camping and it makes all the other tents look like very smol boi.

Just for ideas, If I had to work out of a tent, and I had my power and internet figured out (Anker 535 and 100watts of panels $580 and Starlink kit $450) I would use a tent like the Coleman 6-Person Instant Cabin. Big enough to stand in and not feel cramped/folded up. A 4' Lifetime adjustable height table. You can put the legs at different lengths to deal with a slope and get pretty close to level almost anywhere. The Chair is the hard part for me. I don't want poky legs making holes in the bottom of the tent. I don't want a camp fire chair that would not be a good possession for working on a laptop. I think I would use a harbor freight folding aluminum sports chair but I might need an out door plastic rug or pucks for the feet. A rug would be nicer. 8x8 ft, Plastic Reversible Rug. And I expect if I was using this everyday the tent, chair and rug would probably need to be replaced at least yearly. The lifetime tables are tanks and might never need to be replaced. Chair 6.6lbs $35 Table 24.1 lbs $45 Tent 24.1 lbs $200-300 Rug 6.7 lbs $70 Totals "Office" 60-70lbs $450 Starlink and power and bits-n-bobs 15lbs? $1030 My computer work isn't super computer intensive and I could get away with a $400 laptop and a the mouse I like is $30 (5lbs?) Plus $165/mo for service So if everything burnt down and I had to start working in a literal field: $2k and $165/mo and maybe pushing 90lbs of gear. It's easy to make this much lighter or much cheaper or much more rugged. But this is a good balance for me and I know all this gear and trust that this would work.

Big tents are great in theory. However, you don’t always have the right space to put them in a campsite. Keep that in mind because the large footprints limits locations to some campsite I would like to go to. I have an instant cabin tent that solved my space issue. It’s a 6 person Coleman. Not too expensive and has held up

6 person at least. Room for sleeping setups, and some gear. You don’t want to be right up against the tent wall. Also look at the center standing height, for the tents you look at they will tell you. Ex: I have ozark trail 6 person instant up dark rest tent. For me alone, it’s great. I can sleep myself and wife if needed. I would still want bigger. Coleman instant cabin tent, 6 person, a bit more room than OT, and taller in center. I personally like OT more for the features, but just one example of size being different among brands for 6 person. But ya it’ll depend on your sleeping setups. If you are trying to do a single queen size mattress, 2 cots / pads, etc. When you aren’t worried about weight and size as much, you can be more comfortable. 4 person will get it done, 6 person probably sweet spot, anything more and you’d be just looking for more room. It can be good to have a lot of room when rainy / buggy / something keeping you in tent for some reason.

I have Coleman 6 person Instant-Cabin with rain fly. Easy to setup under 5 minutes and big enough for a queen size and double air mattresses with room to spare. Knowing that you have a family and your hands will be tied, this ready to deploy tent will be way better experience to set up than traditional tents and push poles. I've had mine for 5 yrs now it's been a breeze setting up. I've patched the floor here and there due to abrasion against sharp rocks and rocky gravel campsites. Overall it has been robust for the price and have dealt with multiple rainstorms (with the rain fly and never had any leaks) and it's still holding up well. Reviews claim that some have leaks during light rain but I have never experienced any.

My Coleman Instant Tent 6 person has been solid for the past 5 years. I can easily set up everything in under 5 minutes.
