Spacious vestibule, strong in storms, but rainfly tricky solo.

I have a Carlsbad 8 person that’s 15x12 but we also bring along our Sundome 4 person for situations that won’t allow the 8 person. As others have said, most National Park grounds list the pad site size. Also, speaking of downsides. Larger tents create a larger profiles. It can be detrimental in situations such as strong winds.
I have the Coleman Montana and the Coleman Carlsbad. Love the Montana, but the footprint is huge. We don't camp a ton, but this is our most-used tent and is plenty spacious for our family of 4. I hate the Carlsbad. Ours is only 4p, so idk if the 8p is taller, but I can't stand up in it. But the *worst* feature is the vestibule. The zippers come together at the ground in the middle. There's nothing holding it taut, so you can't unzip it one handed *and* it's on the ground. It's extremely frustrating if you're carrying anything. Plus, there are large holes on the sides of the vestibule for cords or whatever, so you'll get plenty of bugs in there.
I got the Carlsbad Dark Room. It’s a four person so it’s a little more work to set up alone but it’s getting easier the more I use it.
I just went camping with this Coleman tent: https://imgur.com/a/7DFGpIy “ Coleman Weatherproof 4-Person Cabin Tent with Screened Porch” I loved it. Wasn’t too difficult to setup alone. Lots of space inside for a 4 man tent. Big windows but able to be zipped up. Windows allow airflow even with rain fly on it. It was an upgrade from a Coleman sun dome. I also have a 6 man Coleman with porch as well for when I take the kids with me and it was easier and lighter than that one. That 6 man one also allows no airflow with the rain fly on. This 4 man Coleman one is the best of both worlds. Prices on this one are wild. Anywhere from $119-$200 depending on who’s selling it. I got it for $150 shipped.
I’ve used a 6P Darkroom year round, including in/on snow, including an 8” overnight drop. I do use a cot and either alone or with 1 other person, also on a cot.
I love the Coleman 6 person dome tents. I use them for my Girl Scout troop. If you want to use them in colder temps, I recommend the Darkroom over the Sundome. The rainfly goes lower and provides more insulation.
