I have a fast frame dark Coleman for the family, and I also have a Denali Kakadu 2p tent ($100) for windy weather. But if you attach all the lines to pegs on the fast frame it's probably gonna be ok
I reckon get a 6 person tent, those ones you mentioned are too big. We also have a 3yo, and we got a 6 person Coleman darkroom. It means jr can sleep in summer when the sun is still out
The Coleman darkroom is the best tent I've ever owned, my toddler can nap in it during the day in summer. Slightly more work than a Coleman dome, but I put a camping fan on in it and wake up at 7:30-8 in the morning
I got the 6 person too, it's so nice
I have the Coleman 6-person Fast Pitch Dome that I love for summer/fall camping. I can put it up by myself in 6-8 minutes and it has worked well for me even on some cold and rainy evenings. Makes solo car camping quick and easy but still big enough for friends to join.
I have the 4p and 6p and they definitely block out the light
I bought a Coleman 6p fast frame dark tent, it's a great tent easy to set up but I kinda regret getting the dark tent. It's darker in the tent than my bedroom at home so I don't wake up at all in it. I believe the dark tents are also heavier than an equivalent sized normal tent. I like the sun walking me up early when I'm camping. Plenty of room for me and my wife and my 2 toddlers. I am interested in the air tents too, that might be my next upgrade.
The material does feel a lot thicker which I guess would also help with durability as well as the waterproofness and light blocking.
Depends on the car you have. We have self inflating mattress from decathlon and a coleman 8p skydome. Everything else like the tarps, blankets, kitchen, cooler, water, firewood, misc stuff, etc all fit just enough in the car. If i change anything i would change my tent into a 8P darkroom instant/fast pitch tent from coleman. The darkroom tent should keep thing dark specially with the early sunrise here in canada. Also the fast pitch tent, i would spend less time installing the tent. The mattress have made a huge change, and i need to take better sleeping bags, but again not sure if all would fit in my car. To add.. The mattresses that i have are double and they fit in the 8p tent. So, if you are planning to get double mattress or even queen, you should go with a 8p tent. If your sleeping system is different, then yea, 6p may work.
coleman 6 person (10x10') that is 6' tall. unless you are over 6' it is good to have extra room for gear and tall enough for standing (esp when getting dressed). I used an 8 person for me and my dog (with a big crate)... I liked enough room to bring a small table and chair in when it rained... https://preview.redd.it/jsndo9u0yfnf1.jpeg?width=1320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=93e3bed7e1f5516fccbf75461b281493ff1f93a8
personally i would buy 2 10x10 coleman dome tents.
I'm thinking they backed the trailered boat over the tent because, well... our eyesight just becomes worse and worse the older we get. I'd go with a Coleman 6p 10'×10' pop-up. Coleman tents offer good protection at a great price.
Got our Coleman Darkroom 6 person tent from Costco about 5-6 years ago. Still going strong and we camp 5-10 times a year. It holds up through rain too. I think it was about $65. Really cheap. We use it for just the 2 of us but 3 people could sleep cozy but comfortable.
