Try the Coleman instant up darkroom tent if you can. It's a winner for our family!

I have a Coleman instant up dark room tent. Its the 10 person but it comes in a 4 person too. It is hands down the best tent I've ever had. Buy myself I have setup down to 10mins and pack up like 5mins. Ive had it in hurricane force winds only to find the camp-site totally destroyed in the morning. Except my trusty Coleman! It acted like a bombshelter because I slept through all of it. If you are car camping dont stress on the weight too much.

I've got one of those - after a year the "dark" coating became so sticky and gross that I've stopped using it. Not covered under warranty they claim we did something wrong but I can't think of what and others have had the same issue. We've tossed the fly in the bin and use it as a second tent / put it under a tarp if we're worried about rain.

I can't speak to durability, but my Coleman EZ has lived a long life through a lot. But tent sizes seem to be incredibly deceiving. There's two of us and a 6-person tent is tight. I may be a snob?, but if the tent fits in roughly the same-sized bag, go for a larger tent.

The one touch pop-up then twist to close types can be deceptively difficult to close unless you're used to that twist and turn type. I'm shit at it and broke one so I got an "instant up" type that you can push down to open up squeeze to close. You can see an example if you Google: インスタントアップサンシェード

I got mine at Kohnan like 4 years ago for 6000yen I think? It's still going strong with 2 kids and multiple outings over the years

Coleman dark room. Blocks a good amount of light and heat, durable, simple, decently cheap, tall enough to stand. Cons - it's pretty big at 9x7 and it's kind of hard to set up solo.

Buy Coleman with the Dark Room tech, or a brand with similar like Logos. Don’t buy the cheap shit people are telling about. They will get insanely hot and keeping out the sun is the only way they are useful.

Coleman makes their “dark room” tents which keep the tent darker inside and allegedly keep the tent cooler in the hot sun. Ive never taken our 6 man out in hot sun, but i can confirm that it is much darker inside then in comparable tents. Generally speaking for car camping coleman is what i recommend. They’re cheap, they work fine. Will they survive hurricanes? No. Will they last if you camp every weekend? No. But our groups have used coleman tents for years without issue.

I've never had a CORE tent, but Coleman and Kelty have both worked well in the past for car camping. The Coleman "instant cabin" would probably be an easier setup, but not much easier, and at cost of some sturdiness. Coleman Dark Room and Kelty Daydreamer are also neat; they're designed to black out sunlight, so the material is a bit heavier... and yeah, you can sleep in past dawn much more easily.
