"We have the same tent, same size family and we called our "The Condo" as well. Each boy had their own area and mom and dad had the middle with a queen size air mattress. The big old 100 lb lab even had plenty of room."
"It’s huge, can easily stand up inside. ... Comfortably fits a large inflatable queen air mattress for the wife & I, pack’n’play for our 1 1/2 year old daughter and our 4 year old son sleeps on a backpacking air pad."
"Its huge. ... We call it the tent condo. ... One time we had 2 queen air mattresses, a play pen, and 3 suitcases in it for an entire week in total comfort."

"Nah, too heavy. ... It’s heavy af though, my wife could barely lift and fold it. ... We had a vista v2 and it was way too heavy"
"I wish I’d have known that mine wasn’t Disney compatible! ... I have the uppababy vista 2 and it’s not easy to just collapse and put back up when we got on buses. ... It’s not hard but you have to take the seat out and all that. So we were holding the stroller part, the seat and her. HARD!"
"The Vista is great--I definitely wouldn't travel with it, though. ... I simply would not have taken all the trips I took, especially alone, if I'd had to deal with more complicated gear. ... anytime you want to actually travel anywhere with it you've got to get the carseat out, get all the crap out of the storage basket, fold the stupid stroller, install the stupid carseat, get yourself into the car, then do it all again in reverse when you get out--and that's not adequately describing the emotional stress you feel as a new mom leaving your baby in the backseat of a taxi while you go put the stroller in the trunk."

"only complaint would be a lack of air flow as all the windows were a few feet above the ground so it was tough to get air flowing through the tent."
"my only complaint would be the windows are high so there is not much air flow low down."

"We went from a Coleman 4 person tent to a Coleman 12 tent. We also have a queen blow up mattress & having the extra room is amazing."
"Im camping now in a Coleman 4 person tent. 1 is comfy, 2 is cramped. 4 if we were midgets."
"I find that you basically have to halve the number of people advertised to fit in a tent to get a comfortable experience with space for gear and to be sleeping without being up against the side walls (which can cause moisture to transfer inside of the tent). ... my Coleman rent that is advertised as a 6 person tent but sleeps three plus gear better than it fits 6 sardines."

"Because a large tent is much harder to find a good flat spot clear of roots and rocks."
I have the Coleman Montana and the Coleman Carlsbad. Love the Montana, but the footprint is huge. We don't camp a ton, but this is our most-used tent and is plenty spacious for our family of 4. I hate the Carlsbad. Ours is only 4p, so idk if the 8p is taller, but I can't stand up in it. But the *worst* feature is the vestibule. The zippers come together at the ground in the middle. There's nothing holding it taut, so you can't unzip it one handed *and* it's on the ground. It's extremely frustrating if you're carrying anything. Plus, there are large holes on the sides of the vestibule for cords or whatever, so you'll get plenty of bugs in there.
r/camping • I've narrowed down my tent search, let me hear your pros & cons on these please! ->I have an 8 man Coleman Montana. I've used it several times with my 4 kids but without my wife, or with my wife but just 3 kids and we have plenty of room. We could still fit 6 of us in there, but at that point there wouldn't be as much room to spread out. In your situation I'd recommend starting with the 6 man and expanding as needed. Because a large tent is much harder to find a good flat spot clear of roots and rocks.
r/camping • 6 or 10 person tent for family ->I had the 8 man for about 6 years. Get the rain fly for it and make sure you treat it every season. It worked so well during a downpour the floor turned into a water bed but we stayed dry inside. Dont touch the walls while they are wet though. It likes to condensate inside so keep it well ventilated. I lent it to my roommates inexperienced friends and they busted one of the legs but I was able to use it for another full two years. Money well spent. That said I'm upgrade to a canvas tent this year because most of my camping is done in the fall and winter now and I need a hot tent. That said, that Coleman will treat you well as long as you treat it like you're supposed to.
r/camping • Coleman 4 man "instant setup" tent. Any good? ->I agree that the Coleman is a great value. I have a 8p one and use it for troop outings. When it’s just my son and I, I opt for my smaller 4p one as it is easier to set up and tear down.
r/camping • What should I look for when purchasing a tent for 2-3 people? What should I avoid ? ->I have the 8 man. Overall good tent
r/camping • Coleman 4 man "instant setup" tent. Any good? ->Coleman makes decent lower cost tents. I had an 8 person that withstood several crazy winter storm fronts in florida while island camping (60-70 mph)...I did use all the guy lines and they were secured to trees or tree roots. I have also had a 4 person 10x10 dome tent from coleman that worked great https://preview.redd.it/f61egic2lptf1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a7894d5619f7bcf8c2db3f933bfa9419af460dc4
r/camping • I need a new tent; what do you recommend? ->i have owned 2 coleman 8 person tents that utilize that same design. they were not the black out ones ( I camped in florida and it got crazy hot here, so i wanted thin material that was light colored). this design stood up to LOTS of wind and rain very well. only complaint would be a lack of air flow as all the windows were a few feet above the ground so it was tough to get air flowing through the tent. IF you are camping in a warm location a small battery fan may be a good idea
r/camping • Coleman, skydome w/ dark room tech 10P ->I looked up your tent. looks like they added a vent in the rear / bottom. this would help with airflow and a small fan down there would suck in (relatively) cool air. The windows at the top would help eliminate condensation ... and there is a lot of room in these tents. was not an issue for me. My first coleman 8 person (**Montana**) with this design had a small doggy door in the back, that had a screen that helped with ventilation. The second one did not have the doggy door, but did have a lot more material on sides of the door to that created a rain-free awning
r/camping • Coleman, skydome w/ dark room tech 10P ->That tent is a coleman montana 8 person. I have had 2 of them,.they are very sturdy when all the guy lines are used. It does well in the rain... the fly covers the 2 side windows very well. my only complaint would be the windows are high so there is not much air flow low down. I always bring a small fan so not an issue. The coleman 6 person is what I used last. It was fine after I my dog passed and it was just me. I like to have enough room to stand, and bring a chair and small table inside incase it rains. This one is 10x10' and 6' tall. https://preview.redd.it/vna1vl7a5krf1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0c7cb984cda2696f6a6e11b307ce64be9bd89425
r/camping • Ozark Trail Tent Returns ->Location and budget would be useful. If I’m on budget in North America, I would just buy at least an 8person Coleman tent. For poor rainy weather buy cheap &10-20 tarp and thrown it over the tent
r/camping • what is the Best camping tent to buy right now with no fake reviews? ->I have had the eight person for about four years now. We use it maybe three times a summer. It’s very heavy. So definitely a car camping tent. It is easy to set up. Not quite as easy to pack away. We did camp through a torrential downpour. With the rain fly, it did leak a bit near the windows. I subsequently bought tint wax and waxed all the seams near the windows. Haven’t used it in the rain since so I don’t know if it worked. One thought. We are two adults and one kid. We can all sleep in half the tent. That leaves the other half as a living room if the weather is no good or at night, I put a blanket down, a couple of camping chairs, and a table, and we have our own little tent cabin.
r/camping • Coleman 4 man "instant setup" tent. Any good? ->We use a Coleman Montana 8p tent (A2) for our family of five and the tent is still going strong 7 years later. It’s rained while we camped and we stayed surprisingly dry for a cheap tent without a full rain fly. We all have plenty of room and once you know how to set it up it’s pretty easy.
r/camping • I've narrowed down my tent search, let me hear your pros & cons on these please! ->We have an 8-person Coleman Montana for our family of five. We’ve used it for about 8 years now. Fits us wonderfully. It’s not hard to put up but does require two people. A dome-style tent might be easier, or even an instant cabin tent. I would keep everyone in the same tent, especially since you’re just starting out. My oldest 2 are 10 and 12. Even though we’ve been camping since they were babies, I do not think they’d feel comfortable in their own tent yet. Maybe soon. I’d get the oldest 3 and you sleeping pads (if you can afford it), and put the 1 year old in a pack n play. If you can’t afford sleeping pads then use air mattresses - but make sure they fit without touching the walls of the tent. Our Coleman Montana can fit two queen air mattresses with a pack n play in the middle.
r/camping • Family Tent Recommendations ->30 of my 32 years i spend camping weeks at a time in a Coleman 8 person tent from Walmart. My parents couldnt afford anything else when we were kids and the tent worked great. When I turned 20 my parents got me my own coleman 8 person from Walmart and it rocks. I use it any time im campground camping. Its huge. We call it the tent condo. One time we had 2 queen air mattresses, a play pen, and 3 suitcases in it for an entire week in total comfort. And once my mom cut a hole in the side of her tent, sewed a sleeve on the tent and put a window air-conditioner in it. Talking about lap of luxury. Lol mom said she wasnt that worried about messing up because the tent wasnt that expensive.
