I have one of these, plenty of room for me 6'2", and my 11 yo son 5'4" and our gear. It's a nice tent for times when you don't need the rain fly but there's lots of bugs so free-ballin it in a hammock would be miserable. It's a little stuffy with the rain fly on, but you get the vestibule for shoes/boots etc with the fly on. You can get a solar powered tent fan for pretty cheap to alleviate the stuffyness.
I have a skydome with vestibule and use it during rainy season to camp. We had a 3 day camping trip where it rained nonstop the entire time pretty hard and I didnt have any issues.
I'm a big fan of my Coleman Skydome 6 person tent with a full-fly vestibule. It's pretty easy to set up, and tall enough for an adult to stand up in. Also it's not crazy expensive.
Not instant. It takes two people 5-10 minutes to get it up though.
Honestly I would say to just look at a 6p Coleman tent. I would not go too expensive for a starter tent. Personally I like tents that have a rainfly that goes almost to the ground. And a vestibule is always nice too. This is the style I am talking about. Coleman Skydome 6 with full rain fly might be worth looking at. I hate my Gazelle screen tent. Constantly leaks, poor ventilation, and a pain to deal with due to large folded size.
3. I do scouts camping Coleman 4p sundome that I usually use. I think it meets your requirements but I don't think is 68" tall Old REI 4 person whose name eludes me that I usually give my 13 year old Coleman 8 person with fully enclosed vestibule that I rarely use but am taking to summer camp this year. It's hard to set up with one person (I'm a bit short to reach easily to do the rain fly) but if I were taller it'd probably be doable
I have the Coleman cabin with the full closure / waterproof front and I love it! It’s survive a few rainstorms and kept us dry. Very spacious and easy to set up.
Get a big & inexpensive 6p tent like a Coleman sky dome or something for the family and then a basic 4lb’ish 2p backpacking tent like the Featherstone Granite in case some trips require backpacking. Both tents combined can come in under $300 and will last long enough to figure out what you need or don’t need. Spending big money is really only necessary if you know you’ll be backpacking over long distances or camping in extreme weather. UL and true 4 season tents are pricey and totally unnecessary for car camping.
