I originally bought the Timberline 2 for backpacking in rugged terrain during Fall/Winter seasons in northern VT and NY. The simple A-frame style is superior to most designs in high wind or snowy conditions, but most folks today demand more space and comfort. As a retiree, with creaky bones, who can no longer manage hiking, I now normally use an Alps 3-man dome tent or a Core 4 cabin-walled tent. These two are not as rugged as the Timberline, but are spacious and inexpensive. I drive an F150 with a full 8' canopy so I keep the Timberline is case of full-storm weather. The Pacific coast can have wicked winds and sheeting rain during the colder months.
I have tents capable of managing 4-season camping on the PNW coast but when I wanted a summer tent for glamping \[standup height / roomy\] I was at a loss. I made the assumption that Costco would not retail a junk tent so I bought the Core 4 Cabin Wall tent. It's a perfectly conventional design and well made - at a reasonable price. Sometimes you guess right.
I recommend the Core Equipment brand. We have used them for awhile now and are really happy with them. Here is one of their four person tents https://www.coreequipment.com/products/4-person-instant-cabin-performance-tent
Love my Core 4-person straight wall tent! It's 72" at it's highest point. Also I know it's not what you asked for but if you're looking for a bad-back-friendly cot, I swear by my Cabela's lounge cot. I was able to continue camping all last summer with a back injury.
Whenever I’m camping by myself, I use what I’ve begun to call a Frankenstein setup. I have a OneTigris inner tent (basically a bug net with a bathtub bottom) that’s 2P sized and A-frame. It’s roomy, airy, dries super fast, and weighs next to nothing for backpacking, and only requires a pair of hiking poles or a ridge line to set up. It also has multiple zip entrances, giving you options for setup from Baker-style to simple A-frame with a tarp, depending on campsite. Over that, I put a simple lightweight tarp. I’m currently using a cheap FreeSoldier tarp from Amazon until it falls apart, but I’m been happy with it so far. Then I picked up a cheap ground cloth that fits the inner tent, can’t remember the brand, but also Amazon. Overall, the setup I think cost me less than $200, with the inner tent being the most expensive at like $80. Each piece has a stuff sack that is small, and fits into my Kelty backpack easily, and weighs very little overall. For camping with my son, we have a cheap Core Equipment 4P tent that costs like $90 at Academy and is a breeze to set up. Super roomy, we got a twin and full sized air mattresses in no problem.
I have 2 Core Tents, one 10 person and one 4 person. Works out perfect. The wife and I have a large tent with standing room, and the one kid who still camps with us has a tent he can get all messy without ticking us off.
I own a Core, and it's a great tent. It's good in the weather, easy to set up, and plenty spacious. Mine does great without the guy lines, but I can attach those if things get spicy, and it's not going anywhere. Cons: It's HUGE and HEAVY when packed up. Between that tent, and the cots I bring along for the fam, that takes 30% (or 50% if I'm in my Jeep) of my transport storage space. It's specifically designed for warm-weather camping, so if you winter camp at all, it's not the right tent. Like at all.
