Went on a 12-day through hike in Norway a few years ago with 2 friends. All of us bought a different tent for about the same price. One bought this Quechua one, I bought the Jack Wolfskin Gossamer, and one bought the Alps Mountaineering Mystique. The Quechua was the worst quality overall, the Mystique was the best footprint/pack size, and the Gossamer was the best bug netting/materials at the expense of packed down shape (very long, which actually helped with outside backpack attachment) and you can’t sit up in it really. I don’t remember weight differences but we all managed just fine carrying our own tents up mountains with our 65L packs, and ultimately all did the job well enough.

There are certainly lighter, more portable, and far better quality alternatives out there, but they're significantly more expensive. From my experience, Quechua products aren't bad value at all for money and make good entry-level gear for occasional trips. For a single night in a tent, I doubt you'll find anything better at this price. For more intensive use and more "extreme" situations, or for longer, multi-day treks, I'd probably recommend something else.

Fresh and black is the way to go for Glastonbury. Think I’ve had mine for 8 years now and never changed because it works so well.

I own a two sleeper blackout tent from decathlon, used it in Iceland in the summer 24h sunlight. I can't use facemasks as I can't sleep with something bound to my face. That tent is fantastic, nearly complete blackout. Went to a festival in Iceland and everyone camping there was very jealous of me because all the other tents where light as day. Only problem: the tent didn't heat up as others so I needed more clothing for sleeping as it stayed very cool. Anyways I use that tent a lot, it's easy to build and move around (no popup funktion) and packs very small and is lightweight. I try to find a link to that specific one

I have one and use it for touring on my motorcycle, haven't tried hiking with it. Nice tent though.

I had the 2 person Quechua F+B. Way too small for me for several days' camping. Next time, I'm going with 3-man, or possibly 4-man. I'm quite big, admittedly (6' 3"), but even if I were shorter I think it'd still be too cramped. I'd rather struggle with the extra weight in 2 directions than do that again. I'm glad they have the scheme to return your tent for a gift card, because I don't want to use this one again. F+B aspect always works well for me, though, and they're quite simple to put together.

Something double skinned. Make sure it’s big enough so you don’t touch the sides/walls whilst sleeping. I have a Dectahlon MH100 XL Fresh&Black tent and I LOVE it. It’s a regular ‘erection’ style tent, but honestly I find it much more simple than the pop-up I had previously (they’re easy to put up but a pain to get back in the packaging!). The blackout was an absolute dream the years before in the heat/sun. It was perfectly waterproof last year too.

I have a 2 man version of this that held up fine in torrential rain at Bearded Theory last year over two days.

Yeah we got a month's worth of rain in a day, the Trent nearly broke its banks, and I was happy listening to it pound down in my tent. Well when I wasn't wading around site haha. I slept til 1030/11am most days at Glastonbury, even one day woke up, opened the tent and stuck my legs out and went back to sleep until 1. Ear plugs and mask required though.

I own their 2 person tent and it only fits one person plus their stuff comfortably. I'd imagine the 3 person tent would fit 2 people alright with some room for stuff. Depending on how much stuff and room you guys want, a 4 person Decathalon tent would be good. Their tents are great. Bought one last year and it worked like a charm. My only complaint was the amount of space. Me, my stuff and my 5lb dog was fine in it. It would fit 2 people, but we'd be sleeping side by side with little space to store stuff.

Not a fan of that tent design. By necessity of its design the poles are thin and flexible (so it can fold in on itself for breakdown) meaning even in light winds it can bwnd and fold on itself. A moderate or heavy wind would blow the outer walls straight into you. If you only ever plan to use in ideal conditions it may be ok though. The one you linked isn't large enough to stand up in, I know that was one of my SOs requirements to go camping, not sure about yours. Dark fabric for blocking sun is becoming more popular, personally I like more mesh for airflow but I have mostly previously camped in hotter areas (recently moved to a colder climate so learning new things lol) If it looks like it fits your needs and will be sufficient for the conditions and is in budget then sounds like it should work!

I have decathlon fresh&black tents and they are the best, you can sleep around 2 hours longer when the sun comes out and they are relatively cheap while beeing of decent quality. I don't know if you can get them in the states though.

Can concur the fresh&black line with blackout lining is awesome for camping. Have now owned 4 of their tents and they're incredible value for those price points. If you're starting off building up your own camping gear you wont go wrong with their stuff.

Get a Fresh and Black from Decathlon and call it a day. It’s by far the most acclaimed series of tents on here.

Yes! I’ve had my Fresh&Black tent for over three years and I go camping about 30 nights per year. It’s still like new. They’re very cheap, too.

I went with the F&B this year and it was actually too good. It was so dark that when I went to bed at 8am I ended up waking up at 17:00 and missing my favourite sets. Was gutted, will be returning it. 10/10 for sleep, 0/10 for self control

Have had the standard Quechua blackout and it has honestly been great. You aren't roasting at 9am scrambling to get out the tent.  A 3 man for one person will be absolutely fine. We are a couple and have the 3 man and are looking for a slightly bigger tent now (it is doable but theres basically no space if its two people plus bags) and will likely just stick with the same brand just in a bigger size. It isn't super light but to be honest at this stage I'd rather take the better tent that I can actually get a bit of rest in and deal with the carrying than get a lighter non blackout tent I can't stand being in. Worried about the weight of the bigger one but think it will be a better experience!
