I have the El Capitan 4. It's an "outfitter series" made to be extra durable and stormproof - and it is. Stayed dry through sick Midwestern t-storms including last that knocked out power to the park and flooded campsites - no problems whatsoever. r/CampingGear • I’ve spent HOURS agonizing over our next tent - send help ->If you can find one, get a Eureka Timberline SQ Outfitter 4. I've been camping in these style tents for thirty years in all seasons and they always hold up. The Assault Outfitter 4 is also an excellent choice. My personal tent is a Timberline SQ Outfitter 2 though, plenty of room for just me plus my gear. Unfortunately, Johnson Outdoors is discontinuing the Eureka line so their tents are becoming harder to come by. The good news is the new ones that are still out there are priced for clearance. It's really too bad though, Eureka tents have always been a "buy it for life" item.
r/CampingGear • Looking for recommendation on all season four person tent for scouts ->I have had several eureka tents over the years, and many other high-end brands. Currently have el capitan outfitters (a 2+ and. 4+). Very tough, overbuilt and bought them to keep up my little ppl and dog. Very robust and would highly recommend
r/CampingGear • Tent- Eureka vs Yanes ->My scout troop recently bought a bunch of Eureka tents (I believe they are the McKenzie model, but could be wrong) and I have a Eureka El Capitan. They are extremely beefy compared to other tents we've had and so far have held up to the kids. We have maybe 20 nights on each of 6 tents and the only damage has been a hole in the floor from someone setting it up on a willow spear. Compare that to the constant battle we had with zippers on our previous tents and I've been very happy with the Eureka. Obviously, them being discontinued is a concern, but I would have no problem buying Eureka if the price is right. I would just make sure the model your are looking at is heavy duty and not a backpacking model. I have no experience with Yanes so I can't comment on that.
r/CampingGear • Tent- Eureka vs Yanes ->I like Sierra Designs tents for that next level up. The Clip Flashlight 2 has been around forever and is a great backpacking tent. My friend got one in 2001ish and is still using it. My Sirius 3 dome is still going strong after 14 years. Eureka made bomber tents but the brand is being shut down. If you’re not concerned about warranty look into the Eureka EL Capitan or Timberline outfitter. The Timberline was the go to for many scout troops and is a well proven tent. Little heavy for backpacking but not bad if you spread them out over 3 people. You can pick them up heavily discounted right now.
r/camping • Whats a Decent Tent? ->Agree Eureka outfitter models are bombproof… and weigh 4 tons
r/CampingGear • Tent- Eureka vs Yanes ->I'm not the person you replied to, but growing up my parents had a Eureka 4p tent that was used for backyard sleepovers, family camping trips, etc. They got it before I was born and it lasted for decades. In my early/mid twenties I had a reunion with a close group of college friends where we camped out in the yard of one of our friend's house. A nasty storm blew in and my borrowed Eureka was one of the few tents left staked down and un-torn. **To summarize: longevity, durability, and standing up to high winds**
r/CampingGear • anyone know anything about "The Get Out"?? they have a gorgeous double A frame tent that's making me feel a type of way ->Thank you!! I'm really leaning towards a Eureka 4 person. I like that it can actually fit 4 people comfortably.
