I think that there only being one really sloped wall isn't bad - good place to put gear. I have a 2p Eureka Mountain Pass, a 4p El Capitan, and an old still-in-the-box [N!ergy 9](https://www.rei.com/product/798442/eureka-nergy-9-tent) with a power pack that was gifted to me and I haven't opened yet!

I have had several eureka tents over the years, and many other high-end brands. Currently have el capitan outfitters (a 2+ and. 4+). Very tough, overbuilt and bought them to keep up my little ppl and dog. Very robust and would highly recommend

I'd just put a tarp overhead. Alternatively, I've been in ridiculous thunderstorms for days in my Eureka El Capitan and my MSR Habiscape and never a drop inside.

r/camping • I need a tent that can handle some rain. ->

My scout troop recently bought a bunch of Eureka tents (I believe they are the McKenzie model, but could be wrong) and I have a Eureka El Capitan. They are extremely beefy compared to other tents we've had and so far have held up to the kids. We have maybe 20 nights on each of 6 tents and the only damage has been a hole in the floor from someone setting it up on a willow spear. Compare that to the constant battle we had with zippers on our previous tents and I've been very happy with the Eureka. Obviously, them being discontinued is a concern, but I would have no problem buying Eureka if the price is right. I would just make sure the model your are looking at is heavy duty and not a backpacking model. I have no experience with Yanes so I can't comment on that.

I like Sierra Designs tents for that next level up. The Clip Flashlight 2 has been around forever and is a great backpacking tent. My friend got one in 2001ish and is still using it. My Sirius 3 dome is still going strong after 14 years. Eureka made bomber tents but the brand is being shut down. If you’re not concerned about warranty look into the Eureka EL Capitan or Timberline outfitter. The Timberline was the go to for many scout troops and is a well proven tent. Little heavy for backpacking but not bad if you spread them out over 3 people. You can pick them up heavily discounted right now.
