I think that there only being one really sloped wall isn't bad - good place to put gear. I have a 2p Eureka Mountain Pass, a 4p El Capitan, and an old still-in-the-box [N!ergy 9](https://www.rei.com/product/798442/eureka-nergy-9-tent) with a power pack that was gifted to me and I haven't opened yet!
Marmot Limelight 2P or a Eureka Mountain Pass 2P are both fantastic tents. The mountain pass is 4 season rated if needed. I have both.
Love that I found this posted so recently. I've had this tent and used for over a decade. It's a really great comfy tent and I would recommend it for any beginners or folks who need a good all-purpose tent for car camping. It is super heavy though, like over 8 lbs—I have seen it said around the web that it might be ok split between two carriers for backpacking, but I'm skeptical. It would be an absolute no-go for one, and it doesn't pack down small at all. But, if you're looking for a great, sturdy tent that will last a long time and be suitable for all weather, and don't plan to carry it too far, it's excellent. It's comfy for two and downright luxurious for solo camping. I'm gonna take it out for a bitter rainy solo trip this weekend and fully plan to just sit in the tent all day and gaze at the rain, it's a lovely experience.
Okay, kind of weird, but I used to backpack with my Eureka 2 person. Loved it. Still have it just in case I need it. But now I also have kids and dogs and a wife so I needed to make an upgrade. I went from my 2 person - 3 season Eureka backpacking tent to the North Face Wawona 6 and I love it. It's an amazing tent. Used to have 2 small areas on the sides of my Eureka tent for gear/boots - now I have a massive vestibule that fits everything under the sun. Amazing (size) upgrade.
That will be so easy to drop a ton of base weight when you get a good tent. I was at 6 lb 2 person eureka. Got a 3.75 lb MSR Hubba Hubba in 2020. Last 2-3 years I have had the extreme pleasure of carrying the just over 1 lb Durston xmid pro 2. It’s pricy but the regular xmid is much more affordable. And double wall vs single wall of the pro. Nemo Hornet and any of the BA tents are great too.
I didn’t know tents still came with fibreglass poles, I haven’t had one with them since the 80s. The three I’ve bought since then (North Face, MEC, Eureka) have all been aluminum. You could probably just replace the poles of your current tent if you like the tent enough.
