I just started camping again this year and bought the Eureka Space Camp 4 on sale for $250 CAD. I've used it a couple times and am really happy with it so far, I'm 6 feet tall and can nearly stand upright in it. It also has very good ventilation. It is a little tricky to set up solo, especially if there is some wind (maybe I just need more practice). I'm sure it can be done, however I wouldn't want to have to set up a larger tent than this on my own. It would be nice to be able to stand up fully in the Space Camp 6, but it was significantly more expensive and the value wasn't there for me. The Space Camp 4 has lots of space for my dog and I, and could fit another person that I am close with well enough. Obviously, Eureka doesn't exist anymore so if a warranty is important to you, go with a different brand.
r/camping • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->This pic is through the mesh, I have a sleeping pad on top of a cot which Ozzy (my dog) is on and then another sleeping pad beside it and room for a third next to it if I wanted. There is a green tarp covering the floor in these pics as well. https://preview.redd.it/psfrsupggskf1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=53f0a7b9f5d13cc9d919878369932c08d3e0a6bc For the price I am very happy with it, there's plenty of space inside with the walls being nearly vertical, and the materials seem to be quality enough that it's going to last for a while. Feel free to reach out with any other questions! Good luck making your choice
r/camping • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->I love my Spacecamp4 for car camping with my kids. Has held up very well in a few absolute downpours too. With a 6 you will have tonnes of room. You could probably fit a stand and work on your bike in the tent.
r/CampingGear • Eureka! Tents ->Camping cots with the z-lites on top will be really comfy. I use them for my older kids - it stops them from.wiggling all over the place. Get a stove of some sort. I have a 2 burner propane stove, but I used my white gas backpacking stove for years too. Camp kitchens are a passion of many - I aim for the more minimal, but kids can change that. Tarp or kitchen shelter for when it is absolutely sh!tting rain for days. Garage or shop mat for outside the tent to keep dirt out and is somewhere clean to step outside the tent. Big tent. When the 4 of us go camping we use a 6 person tent. If I bring my kids solo, I use a 4-persom Eureka Space Camp. I wish I had a bigger vestibule, but otherwise it's a great tent.
r/CampingGear • "Luxury" Gear for a Backpacker-Turned-Car-Camper ->Eureka! Space Camp 4 Our 4th tent across 20 years. Various types for different needs. Now empty nesters. - Light ‘enough’ to carry a couple hundred yards into a tent plot. - Full rainfly with small vestibule for chair, boots, light gear. - Plenty of ventilation - 3-season - Easy/quick set up & tear down - tall enough to change clothes - large enough to change clothes and store couple of back packs This tent replaced light 3-man tent that my wife and I can barely get in to/out of. It’s really a comfortable size for 2 + gear, easily put up and taken down, and plenty small/light for car camping. And you can stand up if you’re under 5’8”. Also note the matched footprint that’s available for it. They may be closing out this model so you may find a good sale on it. ($200 or less is a great deal. $300 No rip off.)

r/CampingGear • Wawona 4 vs Homestead 4 Dome vs 6 person Sundome vs 6 person Skydome for beginner ->We got a new 6P tent that turned out to be huge. It’s fine when we take 6 grandchildren but just cavernous for us as a couple. Camp Coleman Dark Room Skydome 4P is a very appealing tent. But I purchased the Eureka Space Camp 4P for the same price (on big sale) because it offered front/rear vestibules and formed metal poles providing more headroom and stability. We love the Eureka! (The Eureka brand has been discontinued by Johnson Outdoors. However, there seems to be plenty of inventory in the supply chain.)
r/CampingGear • Sierra Designs Alpenglow 6P is larger than expected. ->I have a Space Camp 4. I purchased it as my car camping tent as I just had a 2 person backpacking tent. I find it to be incredibly large for a 4 person tent. It’s great with friends but way too big when it’s just me. I’m 5’2” and can easily stand up in it.
r/CampingGear • Eureka! Tents ->I just ordered a Eureka Space Camp 4, used once from eBay for about $160.
r/CampingGear • Recommendations for a car camping tent for two people that you can stand up in. $500 budget. ->For me, it was between REI Base Camp 6 and Eureka Space Camp. The Eureka had more room but the REI was more bomb proof. And I really liked the ability to close up the REI tent for cooler weather. We are not the type of family to let bad weather spoil our trip. I'm not familiar with snow peak tents but I would guess this comes down to personal preference depending on your intended use. Just buy them both, open them up in an dry and clean space, check out their features, then return the one that better suits you. Edit: Upon further review, the alpha breeze and Eureka Space Camp are wildly different sizes, making comparisons difficult.
r/camping • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->For that price on the Eureka I would just make sure it's not too big for your needs and then go with that one. Buy one from somewhere else and then return it. Or go check out a similar sized one. But again, for that price, buy it, use it on a trip, if you don't like it, sell it as only used once. You'd probably come out even.
r/camping • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->I have the Eureka space camp. Great tent if you have a group with you. Pain to set up and take down alone as it’s quite large. Triple that if it’s windy. If you are going to car camp alone and have the cargo room, maybe look at a swag. I thought I wanted a big tent until I realized we only spend time in it to sleep. Sleep comfort and ease of setup/takedown became more important than room. Hope this helps.
r/camping • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->The space camp is a fantastic family camping tent. It is equivalent in quality to the Marmot Limestone or Big Agnes Bunk House and is an absolute bargain right now. Jump on that deal. The other thing I would recommend is try to find the footprint for this. Footprints make site cleanup easier and reduce the amount of potential damage to the tent floor. Replace the included stakes with better tent stakes (MSR Groundhogs, Paris Outdoor Products Spiral Y Beams) and buy additional guyline (I personally like Lawson Equipment). Your only main issue will be support from Johnson Outdoors post sale for warranty. They have stated they are going to honor warranty requests but their inventory will eventually dry up. Something to think about.
