I just started camping again this year and bought the Eureka Space Camp 4 on sale for $250 CAD. I've used it a couple times and am really happy with it so far, I'm 6 feet tall and can nearly stand upright in it. It also has very good ventilation. It is a little tricky to set up solo, especially if there is some wind (maybe I just need more practice). I'm sure it can be done, however I wouldn't want to have to set up a larger tent than this on my own. It would be nice to be able to stand up fully in the Space Camp 6, but it was significantly more expensive and the value wasn't there for me. The Space Camp 4 has lots of space for my dog and I, and could fit another person that I am close with well enough. Obviously, Eureka doesn't exist anymore so if a warranty is important to you, go with a different brand.
This pic is through the mesh, I have a sleeping pad on top of a cot which Ozzy (my dog) is on and then another sleeping pad beside it and room for a third next to it if I wanted. There is a green tarp covering the floor in these pics as well. https://preview.redd.it/psfrsupggskf1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=53f0a7b9f5d13cc9d919878369932c08d3e0a6bc For the price I am very happy with it, there's plenty of space inside with the walls being nearly vertical, and the materials seem to be quality enough that it's going to last for a while. Feel free to reach out with any other questions! Good luck making your choice
Camping cots with the z-lites on top will be really comfy. I use them for my older kids - it stops them from.wiggling all over the place. Get a stove of some sort. I have a 2 burner propane stove, but I used my white gas backpacking stove for years too. Camp kitchens are a passion of many - I aim for the more minimal, but kids can change that. Tarp or kitchen shelter for when it is absolutely sh!tting rain for days. Garage or shop mat for outside the tent to keep dirt out and is somewhere clean to step outside the tent. Big tent. When the 4 of us go camping we use a 6 person tent. If I bring my kids solo, I use a 4-persom Eureka Space Camp. I wish I had a bigger vestibule, but otherwise it's a great tent.
We got a new 6P tent that turned out to be huge. It’s fine when we take 6 grandchildren but just cavernous for us as a couple. Camp Coleman Dark Room Skydome 4P is a very appealing tent. But I purchased the Eureka Space Camp 4P for the same price (on big sale) because it offered front/rear vestibules and formed metal poles providing more headroom and stability. We love the Eureka! (The Eureka brand has been discontinued by Johnson Outdoors. However, there seems to be plenty of inventory in the supply chain.)
I just ordered a Eureka Space Camp 4, used once from eBay for about $160.
For me, it was between REI Base Camp 6 and Eureka Space Camp. The Eureka had more room but the REI was more bomb proof. And I really liked the ability to close up the REI tent for cooler weather. We are not the type of family to let bad weather spoil our trip. I'm not familiar with snow peak tents but I would guess this comes down to personal preference depending on your intended use. Just buy them both, open them up in an dry and clean space, check out their features, then return the one that better suits you. Edit: Upon further review, the alpha breeze and Eureka Space Camp are wildly different sizes, making comparisons difficult.
For that price on the Eureka I would just make sure it's not too big for your needs and then go with that one. Buy one from somewhere else and then return it. Or go check out a similar sized one. But again, for that price, buy it, use it on a trip, if you don't like it, sell it as only used once. You'd probably come out even.
I have the Eureka space camp. Great tent if you have a group with you. Pain to set up and take down alone as it’s quite large. Triple that if it’s windy. If you are going to car camp alone and have the cargo room, maybe look at a swag. I thought I wanted a big tent until I realized we only spend time in it to sleep. Sleep comfort and ease of setup/takedown became more important than room. Hope this helps.
People math and tents get hard. I'd always lean towards one person extra, so a 4p tent. There aren't a lot of light options in 4p tents though. We used a Eureka 4p tent for years, that weighed 8 lbs, and tried several times to find an alternative but never found anything worth it. At the actual 3p level, we have a Nemo Dagger Osmo 3p, that is pretty amazing, but we've only ever used it for 2 people. It's also very expensive, and doesn't seem to go on sale very often.
I LOVE my 4p Eureka! tent. Bought it used 10 years ago and just redid the waterproofing and seam seals.
