I didn’t know tents still came with fibreglass poles, I haven’t had one with them since the 80s. The three I’ve bought since then (North Face, MEC, Eureka) have all been aluminum. You could probably just replace the poles of your current tent if you like the tent enough.
r/camping • Non-Fiberglass Tent Recommendations ->If you’re going to be camping for more than 10 years, the Alpha Breeze is the way to go. The Eureka, while I’m sure is fine, is not even in the same category of quality as the Snow Peak. Other commenters have mentioned price, it is expensive, but I think it boils down to how long you’re gonna be using this for. Also, if you get the Snow Peak, get the padded floor and footprint set. I can say without reservations that it’s one of the best tents I’ve ever used.
r/camping • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->For me, it was between REI Base Camp 6 and Eureka Space Camp. The Eureka had more room but the REI was more bomb proof. And I really liked the ability to close up the REI tent for cooler weather. We are not the type of family to let bad weather spoil our trip. I'm not familiar with snow peak tents but I would guess this comes down to personal preference depending on your intended use. Just buy them both, open them up in an dry and clean space, check out their features, then return the one that better suits you. Edit: Upon further review, the alpha breeze and Eureka Space Camp are wildly different sizes, making comparisons difficult.
r/camping • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->For that price on the Eureka I would just make sure it's not too big for your needs and then go with that one. Buy one from somewhere else and then return it. Or go check out a similar sized one. But again, for that price, buy it, use it on a trip, if you don't like it, sell it as only used once. You'd probably come out even.
r/camping • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->I have the Eureka space camp. Great tent if you have a group with you. Pain to set up and take down alone as it’s quite large. Triple that if it’s windy. If you are going to car camp alone and have the cargo room, maybe look at a swag. I thought I wanted a big tent until I realized we only spend time in it to sleep. Sleep comfort and ease of setup/takedown became more important than room. Hope this helps.
r/camping • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->I have the 6 person. Colors are great, not obnoxious in any way. No issues sleeping at all. Company is no longer around I believe, so no warranty. Nice way to get an expensive tent for cheap though.
r/camping • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->I have done a review on the Halo 6p and 4p before. Awesome tent. https://www.reddit.com/r/CampingGear/s/1KRXWfvzGz It's not discontinued, it's just sold out about everywhere. I wouldn't pay full price on it at Campsaver, who seems to be the only one who has it in stock other than scalpers on eBay. The Eureka Space Camp 6p is also a great choice and is an absolute bargain right now at $165 on Amazon. Johnson Outdoors is discontinuing the brand, but it's a great tent. All large family camping tents do average in high winds. They are standing height and act like wind sails. This can be resolved by using plenty of aftermarket tent stakes and additional guyline. The manufacturer doesn't include enough in the box, so I recommend the Paria Spiral Y beams or MSR Groundhogs and Lawson Equipment Glowire or Ironwire. Also recommended always buy the footprint. Protects the tent floor and makes site cleanup easier.
r/CampingGear • Habiscape Lounge 6p? ->The space camp is a fantastic family camping tent. It is equivalent in quality to the Marmot Limestone or Big Agnes Bunk House and is an absolute bargain right now. Jump on that deal. The other thing I would recommend is try to find the footprint for this. Footprints make site cleanup easier and reduce the amount of potential damage to the tent floor. Replace the included stakes with better tent stakes (MSR Groundhogs, Paris Outdoor Products Spiral Y Beams) and buy additional guyline (I personally like Lawson Equipment). Your only main issue will be support from Johnson Outdoors post sale for warranty. They have stated they are going to honor warranty requests but their inventory will eventually dry up. Something to think about.
r/CampingGear • Eureka! Tents ->Marmot Limelight, Marmot Halo are both excellent. If you can still find it getting that Eureka Spacecamp is also excellent. Johnson Outdoors has discontinued the brand but you will be able to get it for quite a bargain price.
r/CampingGear • 4 man tent ->I bought a space camp 6 earlier this year and absolutely love it. I set it up solo a few weeks ago and it really wasn’t bad at all. Perfect amount of space for me, my wife and our two big dogs. I wish I bought two when I found it in stock.
r/CampingGear • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->I have the space camp 6 and use it solo a lot But, I am 6'3" so smaller tents are more of a hassle. I love all the space, as i cycle and there is room for my bike in there. Set up is super easy. Tons of ventilation. Great for my 3 season camping.
r/CampingGear • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->Yeah, I snagged a hell of a deal on it. Was like $170.
r/CampingGear • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->Not with my bike in it. I lay a heavy duty tarp down inside the tent to lay the bike on it. Takes up about half the tent.
r/CampingGear • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->Im 6'3" and have a eureka space camp 6 that i can stand up in, but its an 8x10 footprint
r/camping • Looking for a small tent you can stand up in ->I have owned several Eurekas over the years. I still have all of them except my first 3 man, which i gave to my sister(she is still using it, its probably 20 years old, if not more). They get my vote for price and quality. To be fair, i haven't used many other tents because i haven't had to. I currently have a lightweight 2 person, apex 3 person, a 3 person with a large vestibule and now a 6 person as my family has grown.
r/canoecamping • Tent Recommendations ->Sportsman had eureka on sale. Snagged me one for a great price. It is replacing my old eureka I've had for almost 40 years. It's wonderful. Almost exactly the 6man. They have 8 too
