Eureka - Timberline SQ 2XT

Yes ,,, believe it or not. I still have my Eureka Timber line. Nice tent. Haven't had it out in a few.

Is it green rainfly and floor with tan sides. Or Brown. If memory serves, I believe there was an upgraded version that was brown. I've got the old tank of a tent Green.

Timberline SQ 2XT. Still freakin 6 pounds. Just found it......maybe that's why I didn't get one. Still have my Campmore external backpack. Lol...

The Eureka 2 man Timberline is what works for me. 6’3”. get a used one, most have only been used onceish.

they have them in stock at some small stores still. You can find them for less than $100 used on websites, so I think it just depends on your definition of a fair deal. I have three, one is 33 years old and it’s the only one I bought new.

I was broken hearted when my c1973 2p Eureka Timberline finally rotted out (the plastic waterproofing layer--oh, did it stink on it's way to the grave!) What a great tent, though it weighed a ton., it got us through some nice 70s folk festivals. Unlike my current light tent it actually held 2 on its 5+ x 7+ foot floor and was solid like rock. But 8 pounds, 13 ounces, I remember the old nylon one as 6 pounds, something ounces. . . . Still, sadly missed. Okay, kind of weird, but I used to backpack with my Eureka 2 person. Loved it. Still have it just in case I need it. But now I also have kids and dogs and a wife so I needed to make an upgrade. I went from my 2 person - 3 season Eureka backpacking tent to the North Face Wawona 6 and I love it. It's an amazing tent. Used to have 2 small areas on the sides of my Eureka tent for gear/boots - now I have a massive vestibule that fits everything under the sun. Amazing (size) upgrade.

That will be so easy to drop a ton of base weight when you get a good tent. I was at 6 lb 2 person eureka. Got a 3.75 lb MSR Hubba Hubba in 2020. Last 2-3 years I have had the extreme pleasure of carrying the just over 1 lb Durston xmid pro 2. It’s pricy but the regular xmid is much more affordable. And double wall vs single wall of the pro. Nemo Hornet and any of the BA tents are great too.

If you like this tent just snag a Eureka Timberline and be happy with a much better tent.

True but being the standard issue boy scout tent for a very long time means six billion of them exist which makes them much easier to find.

Eureka Timberline tents are great, very durable. For tent stakes, I have gone to using 8" timberlick type lag bolts. Use an impact driver to install and remove. Unless you are right on a rock, they work great. I also have a few 4" in the bag.

I love this thing. Saved up for it and bought it on sale as a gift for my wife before she was my wife. It has served us admirably (and will for as long as I can keep repairing it)

Alps Mountaineering offers similar value and BSA discounts. Facebook marketplace is full of smoking deals on Eureka tents. I just got a Timberline for $30. It was missing one of the end poles. $16 from eBay got me two of them.

Same - have the green as well! I discovered that tent bc my dad actually had the same one for years, too. It’s a classic.
