r/rooftoptentsMy girlfriend and I want to buy a rooftop tent. Been looking around on Kijiji (canada) for a second hand tent but been disappointed a few times by mold, chinese low quality, etc. We now decided to go for a new thule tepui footprint as they are on sale (1750 CAD).

Love my topoak... same price point. Check out the Galaxy Pro or Stellar... I prefer any hardshell tent to ensure rodents don't mess with them if parked/closed) for any durations. Chipmunks got to my first RTT (soft shell FSR) and converted it to swiss cheese.

r/campingRoof Top Tent owners, is it worth the price?

We bought a RTT about a year ago. Put it on our VW golf alltrack. Took a 3 month road trip across the US and back from November through January. We camped pretty much the whole time (camp grounds and RV parks) and used a hotel one night a week or so….. We love it!! Yes, there are the nay sayers, but our experience is positive with so many benefits over tenting……. Durable and keeping us dry in horrible weather. Easy set up and take down (made it easy if we needed to go to the store). My wife and I are retired and in our 60s. Way better going down a few steps to go to the bathroom than dragging ourselves up off the ground during the nights…. Yes…. we tent enough to know because we do a fair share of backpacking too. We have a FSR RTT and the money has been worth it for us….
