Splurge on the Kodiak 10x10 flexbow vx deluxe and topper. I love mine. Im usually solo but love the tent and the space. I also have the canvas floor liner. Not necessary but its a nice change from cold plastic. Got mine from competitive edge. Figured this would be the last tent I buy so I said screw it and did the damn thing.
Love my 10x10 Kodiak flexbow deluxe VX
Love my Kodiak flexbow. Over $400 though.
Kodiak Canvas Flex Bow. This will stand in 60 mph winds. It will also last a life time. I have the 10x10. Its easier to find a nice spot for it. Wish i went with the 10x14 for that extra room. Use lag bolts for stakes. With a drill driver. It saves time in setting up. Also saves on the back.
Buy your last tent first. No more damp bed, wind is never a problem. Canvas is the way to go. This one is cheaper. Less windows. I have the 10x10 kind of wish i went with the bigger one. You can fit a queen air mattress with 2 ft on each side to walk.
You use lag bolts as stakes? Its so much faster with a drill/driver. I have a little standup tent i put a cassette toilet in. As i get older i find i need one closer . Shit happens. Im going to post a vid of my tent in 50 mph winds just outside RMNP. I cant believe how well it held up. I know i have it on some HD. Put on a 4in topper for max comfort on the air matt.
Look at Kodiak canvas flexbow 10x14 or 10x10. Canvas tents you can stand in and are very well made. And they set up solo in less than 10 minutes.
Absolutely. I love my Kodiak.
Another vote for the Kodiak. I have the 10x10 and I stay in it 3-4 days a week August through mid-November in Idaho. The floor liner is nice to cover the “cold plastic” referenced above. I have the canvas liner but actually prefer a padded moving blanket. Rain and snow are not an issue and mine has been through some hellish wind storms with no issues.
I have a 10x10 Kodiak and it’s a piece of cake to set up and I love it
I really love my Kodiak 10x14 canvas tent. Had it for 15 year now, and it's still going strong. Holds up to some serious abuse that would destroy other tents, including high winds and snow loads. It is heavy but sets up pretty easily and very well made. Springbar is the other company that makes canvas tents that are similar, but a bit pricier. I'm 6'4" and I can easily stand up inside. They are very spacious inside and less expensive than your max budget. They also have a 10x10 version if you don't need the extra space.
