"My Kodiak tent feels like something I could live in long term for a year, winter through summer. ... I camped in it last year during a night where it rained 20mm with 70km/h wind and I woke up bone dry, and the awning even stayed up."
"After 10 years of music festivals and Outerbanks week long fishing trips, there is not much wear on the ol' Kodiak."
"the kodiaks were hassle free and a lot of people just lagged the 4 corners. those mf'ers are the real deal."

"the only tent that seemed to be standing sturdy in every camp was a springbar style canvas tent. ... the kodiaks were hassle free and a lot of people just lagged the 4 corners. those mf'ers are the real deal. ... will withstand any weather"
"Trudging through the mud from my friends mud caked RVs into our dry Kodiak was incredible. ... Every single shiftpod in our camp had soggy floors. Some fared better than others"

"You can stand up in them and the 10x10 version is plenty for a family of four."
"sleeps 4 VERY comfortably and you can stand up and get dressed"

"Canvas tents are perfect for car camping and will last your lifetime"
"It's definitely a car camping tent unless you love toting heavy packs."

"They have large windows on each side and in the back. Also a door and window in the front. They are made of canvas and breathe - so they're not like a sauna inside during the summer - even during the day. Sometimes its even a little cooler inside due to the shade. I've taken a nap in ours in the afternoon."
"don't get like a sauna in the middle of the day"

I'll never not own an instant tent for normal camping. I have my kodiak for desert camping but go instant if youre going on a normal forest trip lol
I use a Kodiak. Use my ATV to haul it in, pretty bulky but bombproof.
dude I ordered last week when it became very obvious what was going to happen, I might have the last kodiak tent out of saigon lmfao
My Kodiak tent feels like something I could live in long term for a year, winter through summer. I camped in it last year during a night where it rained 20mm with 70km/h wind and I woke up bone dry, and the awning even stayed up. I also have a small backpacking tent for when I'm camping somewhere I can't access with a vehicle.
I like my Kodiak but the brightness is an issue; is there any way to effectively control the light level? It's a real killer for trying to plan super late/sunrise adventures when you can't get back and rest well at dawn. (Inb4 eye mask)
True. After 10 years of music festivals and Outerbanks week long fishing trips, there is not much wear on the ol' Kodiak. It's definitely a car camping tent unless you love toting heavy packs.
Absolutely. I love my Kodiak.
I absolutely love my spring bar. Two adults one kid and a lab. The Kodiak is similar, I’ve been on a USA made kick for the last few years though. I’d personally figure with a 14 and 11 yo they get their own tents or share depending on their sex. Ours will be 8 next year and I’m wanting to have them in their own tent. Dog can sleep with whoever. He usually sleeps on a lees with the door partially open on the spring-bar. If you want everyone in one spot I’d probably look into a pole tent that works with a stove. And then cots as most don’t have floors. I have a few cots and as a tallish guy I like ones that don’t have a bar where my feet are, they are more like what soccer players get pulled of the field when they are hurt.
Springbar or Kodiak. Both have their pluses and minuses. I also love to take my 28" Blackstone with me while camping.
We have a kodiak and you could probably erect the smaller one by yourself. It takes 2 of us to do a 10x14. We also have friend with Shiftpods and they love them. Either option allows you to keep the temp you want inside. We use rechargeable personal fans and a 500 watt space heater that turns of if it gets knocked over. But we also travel with a couple power stations as well. Don't know how bare-bones you need to go. No matter what, I agree, you're going to do better long term with a definitely a rain fly an EZ-Up that goes up quickly you can set your tent up under. You won't have to worry about figuring out a way to set a tarp up over you.
