My wife and iy have a 4 person Marmot halo 4...we have a 6 month old BostonTerrier. We have a Duo long/wide exped pad, and we put him inside this crate, inside our tent... https://a.co/d/dqcPVyS We have been crate training him in this and he loves it, also works out well in camping scenarios.

I have this tent (4P) for car camping and it's great. Love the nearly-vertical walls and all the pockets. When fully staked and all guy lines are fastened, the thing is bomber in the rain thanks to the poles that create the 'halo' around the tent. Roomy vestibule and very durable rainfly. Blows Big Agnes out of the water, IMO. Big Agnes is a step down from Marmot wrt poles, construction, weight for a tent that size, brighter colors for better mood when having to spend time inside of the tent, and more durable zippers, materials, and seam taping (stronger adhesive). Also, more reflectivity at night is useful when getting back to tent after dark. Marmot has been doing this for a long time and it shows. The price is what will get you but in this case, you truly do get what you pay for. For reference, my Halo tent is almost 20 years old and only last year did I need to replace the shock cord in the poles. Marmot just uses better materials overall than Big Agnes. Great tent.

I recently bought the halo four person for my family to go camping in. We are beginners, never been before. I needed something that didn’t break the bank, but that would also pretty much guarantee we could have shelter from the weather because one bad weather incident would probably ruin my chances going forward. If your tent with stood these kinds of conditions, then I am very satisfied with my purchase.

My Marmot Halo 6p and 4p and Durston tents have been to multiple camping and backpacking events. They are multiple years old. You get what you pay for.

I just picked up the halo 4p, very happy with it. We have a giant tent for longer trips but I wanted something smaller and more storm worthy. Seems built well, easy enough to put up, and pretty light packed up compared to my gazelle. Of course, so are most tents.

My favorite tent of all time was the Marmot halo 4p. I don't know if they sell them anymore though. I bought it something like 15 years ago and it is still going strong. I'd honestly recommend something like this as my next suggestion is probably too big for just two people. If you are talking full family camping... I use the Big Agnes Bunk House 6. It's stellar, but you 100% need to stake out the guy lines. Been through storms in the mountains and it's kept is warm and dry. A suggestion if you don't already plan on it... Get some 6 inch spiral nails to replace what comes with the tent.

I think 6P is overkill, it will be difficult to set up alone, and it may even be a challenge to find a suitable spot to pitch the tent on smaller campsites. Marmot Halo 4P is a very nice tent that I had personal experience with, but it is twice your budget ($600 including footprint). I've also used a Coleman Skydome 4P which is plenty spacious for two persons. Honestly it's more difficult to set up than the Marmot Halo, but it is cheap. And a lot of space.

We originally had a Marmot 4 person dome tent. It was a good tent, but my husband and I are getting older and it was too hard to climb in and out of. We replaced the Marmot with a 6 person Nemo Aurora Highrise. We loved being able to stand up inside and having two vestibules. We use the back vestibule for our nighttime pee bucket--very convenient. It's still a bit difficult to enter and leave the tent. The door has a bathtub lip that wants to trip you up and there isn't really anything to grab to steady yourself for the step over. Once we decided we wanted to do more late fall and early spring camping, we added a White Duck 13' Regatta Bell and a Green Stove Hori 5 pellet stove. This combo is awesome, but it's going to be a LOT more than a beginner camper needs. The bell tent has a great entryway that unzips to the ground and there's a nice center pole to steady yourself when stepping in or out. It's very friendly for an older couple who only need to carry a heavy tent a few feet from the car. Plenty of headroom, easy to set up, comfortable as all get out, the only problem is finding a tent site large enough to handle the 4 meter diameter.
