"they replaced the entire tent with my current brand new 3p tent for freeee. ... i thought they would just send a replacement rain fly but got a whole new tent"
"i also have a much older 3p tent maybe 10yr old that had a "window" in the rain fly that delaminated a year ago and they replaced the entire tent with my current brand new 3p tent for freeee. i thought they would just send a replacement rain fly but got a whole new tent and then fixed the rainfly on my own."

"Our 3 person marmot is almost 8 lbs ... We downsized the tent we take on kayak trips to save on space and a bit of weight."
"A little heavy and bulky for backpacking"
"Yeah we have a 3P Marmot that's similar. Very sturdy and great for its intended use but there are much lighter weight options like the Mongar that's also quite cheap. ... Basically unless you already own the heavy tent there's little reason to buy one when there are lighter, cheaper options which are readily available."

Marmot makes some excellent tents in that price range. I have the tungsten UL 3P, it’s a little outside your range, but the non UL versions are within your range and still around that 5lb mark. Personally, I’d avoid naturehike. Materials, testing, and quality control are really important with tents, and these are the main things that get skipped by Chinese brands seeking to undercut the market. Nothing worse than a tent that just WONT pitch taut because the pattern it’s sewn with is a little off, or the material is a little too stretchy. Nothing worse than rain running down the inner wall of your tent because the rain fly is sagging and touching it.
r/camping • Helping finding a tent! ->I absolutely love my marmot tungsten ul 3P. Perfect size for two people and a dog or two. Price has gone up since I got mine, but if you can find it on sale it’s a fantastic tent for the price. [link](https://www.bushwhacker.com/tungsten-ul.html)
r/camping • Condensation problem ->I got mine in 2020 for like $240, I was so stoked. It’s been absolutely bulletproof over the 75 or so nights I’ve spent in it, including one time when we woke up to water actively running under and around the tent (tons of rain and poor site selection on my part) but were still perfectly dry inside. And while it obviously can’t compete with single walled non-freestanding tents in terms of lightness, the liveabiliy trade off is so worth it for most of the types of hikes I like to go on (pretty low miles).
r/camping • Condensation problem ->I have a Tungsten UL 3p and it is like a mansion... Love that tent. We take it when we take a dog or just want spacious luxury... Even if it is a couple lbs heavier than our Durston. I'm not a fan of 1p tents in general. Just not enough room. Our first Marmot was a 3p Limelite.... Like a Cadillac, but just as heavy, LOL. Carried that sucker for 10 years before it started to wear out. I'm a fan of the brand.
r/backpacking • Marmot Tungsten 1P opinions? ->My wife and I were in the same boat as you. I had been rocking my cheap Kelty grand mesa 2 one door/one vestibule tent for years and we kept using it while we built up her gear. Sure it’s snug but it added to the experience. Plenty of great memories stargazing together with the fly off, riding out crazy thunderstorms, or nudging each other awake when we heard wildlife at night. We’ve recently upgraded to a lighter three person tent (marmot tungsten UL 3) but I wouldn’t trade those first handful of years getting sharing that smaller tent while getting her into backpacking. And our sleep setup is basic. Two sleeping pads and two sleeping bags. She steals the covers at home as it is, so I don’t think we could share a quilt or zip our bags together. Also, if you’re strapped for space with the vestibule, put your rain cover on your pack and lean it up against a tree. Been doing that for years and never have gotten it wet even in the worst rain storm.
r/backpacking • How do couples sleep when backpacking? ->They make a 3P Tungsten UL, we have one.
r/CampingandHiking • Best UL freestanding backpacking tent showdown ->The tungstens are awesome. A little heavy and bulky for backpacking but you can totally make it work too. I have a 1p and 3p and they are my go to for car camping. I used to use them for backpacking until I got lighter stuff.
r/backpacking • Marmot Tungsten 1P opinions? ->My recommendation as a life scout having been in an active scout troop for 5 years is the Marmot tungsten 2p. It has plenty of room, is easy to set up, and is nearly bullet proof. I have had the 3p version for 4 years with no issues. The tent can be used 4-seasons out of the year, and is light enough to take on backpacking trips. You shouldn’t have to buy your scout another tent in his duration in scouting(provided they take proper care of it)
r/BSA • New scout tent recommendations ->Hmm mine is a year old. Not sure about any extra wing. Just realized there’s a cool pocket sleeve at the top of the tent on my last trip. No issues with this tent so far.
r/CampingandHiking • Our cozy tent setup. ->I have this tent in 3P, recommend it if you ever bring a second person or a dog it helps, also you can spread gear out if it rains.
r/camping • Looking for a 2P tent less than $250 that'll mostly be used for car camping ->I've got the 3P and it's great. Good design, easy setup, and lots of nice little features, like pockets, hooks, and air vents.
r/backpacking • Marmot Tungsten 1P opinions? ->I have the Tungsten 3p, I was looking at the 2p but went with the 3p for for a little bit more space, the difference in weight was only about a pound. It's a decent tent.
r/CampingandHiking • Novice looking for advice about tents. ->I have a Marmot Tungsten 3 and I have used it as a 4 season tent. Held up pretty well. But, get a good quilt / sleeping bag, an insulated sleeping pad and a closed cell foam mat and you should be good in most any weather. Even in a budget tent. I prefer a hammock with a down quilt and down underquilt.
r/CampingGear • 4 Person 4 Season/Winter Tent? ->Buy an ultralight 3 person!!! Marmot makes a great one. Plenty of room for you and your partner and if you need to throw any gear inside during a storm. Also plenty of room to hang out in and play cards or read books. If you get caught in weather trust me.
r/backpacking • What's the best 2 person backpacking tent that won't make me hate my partner? ->for how many people? i love my marmot tents. i have 4 different ones now. a giant 6p for family / car camping. a 3p for when its just me and another adult or me and my two kids. a 1p ul backpacking tent. i also have a much older 3p tent maybe 10yr old that had a "window" in the rain fly that delaminated a year ago and they replaced the entire tent with my current brand new 3p tent for freeee. i thought they would just send a replacement rain fly but got a whole new tent and then fixed the rainfly on my own. my 1p tent i've had for 15+ years and its holding up great still.
r/CampingGear • If weight is no longer a constraint, what would you choose for a freestanding tent?
->We downsized the tent we take on kayak trips to save on space and a bit of weight. Our 3 person marmot is almost 8 lbs vs my Durston XMid but if I didn't also want something for backpacking a Naturehike Mongar 2 would be a good balance between size, weight and costs.
r/CampingGear • If weight is no longer a constraint, what would you choose for a freestanding tent? ->Yeah we have a 3P Marmot that's similar. Very sturdy and great for its intended use but there are much lighter weight options like the Mongar that's also quite cheap. r/WildernessBackpacking • [deleted by user] ->My wife is all about this. I went from backpacking, to car camping with her in a 3P Marmot tent with a plug-in air mattress… to a 6P REI KingDome… and now she wants a 10P Tent. I’m surprisingly not mad about it… it’s luxurious AF. Super glampy. I’m starting to really get into car camping lol
r/camping • is it normal to bring a 12 or 10 person tent for a couple? ->Must haves (I’ve passed over and returned tents for these) Poles that clip instead of slide into sleeves. Makes setup/takedown super fast and easy. High Quality zippers/fabric/hardware Full rain fly with vestibule for shoes. Double doors. Good ventilation and plenty of mesh. Available oem Footprint Nice to haves: (Increase comfort and usability but aren’t total dealbreakers) Headroom is important to my family, but not a big deal for me personally. Straight walls which keep the interior feeling open. These two hit all those marks for me: Mountain hardwear Mineral king https://www.mountainhardwear.com/p/mineral-king-3-tent-2102591.html Marmot tungsten https://www.marmot.com/equipment/tents/4-person/tungsten-4-person-tent/SP_1031644.html
r/CampingGear • What do you personally look for in a car camping tent? ->Marmot Tungsten, Naturehike Mongar 2p, Big Agnes Copper Spur, Durston X-Dome... Lots of great options out there. Get a tent with a mesh body, not a solid body, for summer. The Sundomes is a good tent but gets hot and doesn't air out as well as a higher grade shelter since it has mostly solid walls.
r/CampingGear • Small tent that can handle lots of rain ->I really love my Mormot Tungsten. It is a little heavier than some of the other Recs but is roomy and has withstood some intense PNW rain. It also comes in an ultra light version (I don’t think it’s actually ultralight, but it is lighter than the OG version). Don’t pay full price for it though, Marmot tents are on sale all the time. I don’t like the zipper geometry on the MSR elixir and hubba for heavy rain and damp/dew- it’s meant so you don’t have to reach so far out into the vestibule to open your fly, but i find it means the zipper can drip into your tent through the open door.
r/backpacking • Does anyone have 2 person Tent recommendations? ->Is that the new Marmot Tungsten?
r/CampingandHiking • Our cozy tent setup. ->How do you like it? I have the version from about 10 years ago. Does yours have that random wing added?
r/CampingandHiking • Our cozy tent setup. ->I bought a Marmot Tungsten years ago….Definitely aesthetically pleasing, great quality, easy set up. I just wish I got the 4-person instead of the 3.
r/camping • Looking for a functional, but aesthetically pleasing, tent. ->Both of these tents are really huge for solo camping. I have the Snow Peak Alpha Breeze and I love it for me, my partner, and our dog. However, it’s a little more challenging to set up alone than other tents due to the heavy metal poles and the old school pin design (where you hook the poles into the tent body). You absolutely need a second person to help. The other tent you listed would be easier to set up alone. I would recommend looking at a 2 or 3 person tent instead for a solo camping experience. Both are plenty big if you have a partner or kid with you, and it would be much cheaper. If you become an REI member, you can get in on the Labor Day sales and then also have the option to return the tent if you decide it’s not working out. I really like the Marmot Tungsten for a spacious 3 person that’s also super simple to set up alone.
r/CampingGear • help! purchasing first tent this weekend - snow peak alpha breeze or eureka space camp 6? ->I own Kelty, North Face and Marmot backpacking tents, and can attest to their durability, ease of use and agreeable weight. I've used them both in the backcountry as well as when going car camping.
r/CampingGear • What brands or types of tents should I be looking to get? ->I'd add marmot to that list too for the 3-season and backup the canvas with stove for freezing weather.
r/CampingGear • What brands or types of tents should I be looking to get? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
