MSR Hubba Hubba tents are very durable, and good for backpacking. Not the lightest - but if you need durability over lightweight - this is a great option. Plus MSR warranty is solid. Since you've had a great run with the Hubba Hubba, the HD is a solid safe bet, but check out the Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2. It’s incredibly popular for a reason, it’s lighter than the MSR and handles wind surprisingly well in my experience.
In January I had the following 10 tents: Kelty dome, Hillary dome, Eureka 4 season, Eureka 2 man something or other, 8 man coleman, Lashing 3ful, North Face dome, MSR Huba, MSR Thunderidge, and a 6 man Coleman. We did a serious cleanup of camping gear and got rid of doubles and triples all on FBMP. I narrowed it down to just the last three on the list. One for solo backpacking, one if my wife comes backpacking, and one for car glamping. Empty nester now with no more kids in Scouts. Don't ask about backpacks, I have a very similar story.
It's not a light tent, but I have had no problems with mine. I've also been using the hubba 2 for over a decade. It's a nice free standing option for solo camping but a bit heavy if you're planning on some long days.
I have the MSR Hubba hubba 2 and also the naturehike cloud up (although not sure if 2 or 1??) Happy with both, although the MSR tent definitely feels a bit sturdier. I’ve had it for 7 years and used it extensively and it’s still in great shape. Very comfortable for one person, a bit tight for two people!
MSR Hubba Hubba 2. Double walled free standing. Got me through an AT thru last year and NEVER leaked. Very roomy.
I will second this. When I’m using a trekking pole tent, the x-mid 1 is my go to. I use both a free standing Hubba hubba 2 (love that tent) and an x-mid 1 for backpacking. The choice depends on the terrain primarily and a little bit on weather.
