I have the Helm 2 Compact, it's withstood wild Scottish weather. Two doors, two vestibules, room for gear, it goes up outer first or all together. Weighs in at 2.35 kg. We have a wide and a standard Neo Topo Air and these fit fine.
r/wildcampingintheuk • 2 person tent recommendations for Irish and uk weather. ->A good tent will keep the wind and rain (and snow) off you. A 4 season tent will stop snow blowing underneath the fly sheet. They are not insulated. To keep warm you will also need a good R rated sleep mat and a good sleeping bag. An R rating of 4 or 5 and comfort below zero are what you're looking for. 3 season good tent... Something light. A good static head on the fly, 3000mm or more Aluminium poles. A good static head in the ground sheet, 5000mm or more. Outer first erection, that way your inner doesn't get wet. I have the Helm compact 2. It's pretty good as a 3 season. I have had the Quasar, it was excellent as a 4 season, but after 15 years the groundsheet gave up.
r/wildcampingintheuk • Recommendations for a 4-Season Tent for Cold Weather and Harsh Conditions? ->If you're only using it in woodland I doubt you need a high end tent, they're made for exposed summits. The wild country helm compact 2 by Terra nova is a cracking tent for roughly £200 + you can take into the mountains. The more money you spend the lighter they become but not necessarily stronger unless you buy a hilleberg. It is a minefield out there, I would suggest watching a lot of YouTube videos, there are loads out there. If you buy a cheaper one and don't enjoy it as much as you think then you've not lost much. But if you do enjoy it you'll want to upgrade because we all do. I'm on my 4th tent in 3 years all for different circumstances. Good luck 🤞
