Would you consider a trekking pole tent? The lanshan 2 offers a lot of room and is lighter (not including the trekking poles) than both those options. The 2026 version is fully seam sealed (used to have an issue where water could get into the guy out areas on the fly) they have also replaced the “plastic” buckle with a “metal” buckle as this was a weak point. Also the new t doors are very nice to be able to get in and out or just open up for views. (£100 ish price point. Slightly higher for the 4 season version which has more solid fabric and less mesh, £20 is for the footprint but if you want lighter you can use a piece of poly for around £5 which weighs nothing). The oex phoxx is very coffin like, and at your hight I doubt you would be able to sit upright inside it which for me is a huge disadvantage when the weather turns sour. If you don’t mind that it’s a very good tent for the price and very good in uk weather. I would say the cloud up 2 is a better option although the “UL” version is stated to be PU1500 on the fly? I would say this would make it very much a summer tent, I understand you won’t be taking it out in storms but rain is common in the uk and I personally wouldn’t trust a 1500 hh fly. I would say the standard 20d version was better for uk but it is a few hundred grams heavier. I had a cloud up 2 and I hated the front entrance door, I loved the tent but that was a deal breaker for me. I have the naturehike cloud creek pro 2, it weights 2kg (2.25 with footprint, 2.3 for me as I have changed the pegs, I find naturehike pegs to small for uk conditions). Its a lot heavier that what you at looking at but offers ample space for one, very good in the rain and wind, goes up easy and I love the convertible doors, it’s a warm tent and perfect for crappy Scottish weather for all year use for me. I wouldn’t call it a 4 season tent for storms and winds but holds up very well in 30mph gusts and I would trust it in light snow. I would say it would be too warm for South England summers but perfect for Scottish summers so works for me. Although it can be pitched without the outta fly and the convertible solid to full mesh doors would provide enough ventilation on warm summer nights. (£105 cheapest, £120-£130 average). If you click on my profile you will see a few photos of it under “second wild camp”. I actually sold it as I wanted something lighter but after shopping around I couldn’t justify the price of the x-dome and would of missed out on many camps if I saved up so I re-bought it! Im going to keep it until it dies from old age and try and put some money aside for something like the x-dome later down the line.

Climbing in frontwards while trying not to touch the wet ground with my knees, while being low enough that my back or head doesn’t catch the fly and dump water on my back to then have to turn halfway so my bum lands on the inside then taking my boots off then pulling my legs inside and then leaning out my inner to zip the outta fly door back down while trying to loop the door loop onto the peg and then doing it all over again because I need to pee lol. Maybe a slight exaggeration but side doors are soo much better, particularly for taller, larger or older folks. Loved the tent, very good in the wind with its back facing into the wind. A lot of tent for the price (£80 ish) and a lot of space inside using it as a 1 person tent. I also think it’s the perfect weight. I hate the door lol.

All cover your needs except for wind in exposed areas. I would go for the mongar UL but get the rest but… Have you considered the Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 or the Cloud Creek Pro 2? The Cloud creek pro 2 is very spacious with a full solid inner so it’s the warmest tent. It’s lighter than the Mongar and Star River but slightly heavier than the UL versions. It also holds up better in the wind than the Star River or Mongar but it isn’t a heavy exposed wind tent. This is because it uses three independent poles instead of interconnect poles which can create a weak spot. I think nature hikes testing puts it at a level 8 wind test where as the mongar and star river are at a level 7 wind test. The actually testing info is very difficult to find though to be honest. The Cloud Peak 2 is a very strong wind tent and the strongest option at this price point. It’s the heaviest option though at 2.6kg with a groundsheet. However, it’s manageable and splitting it between two people isn’t an issue. The vestibules are huge! The biggest! It’s an all in one-pitch tent so it goes up very easily in bad weather. However, as it’s an outta pitch or all in one first pitch tent the inner will be loose resulting in slightly smaller inner space. This will work for two people but if you’re tall you might struggle. To be perfectly honest your best tent would be a more expensive tent to cope with all the conditions your describing or if budget is a issue then a tunnel 4 season tent can be picked up for around £100 more than the options your looking at.

The world’s your oyster then, I’m 5,9. I recommend naturehike, very decent tents and all within your budget. I’m currently using the Naturehike Cloud Creek pro 2. You won’t find much on it online but it’s a great 2 person tent, I use it mostly for myself but there is room for 2. It has a full solid inner so very warm but the windows/doors are convertible so you can unzip the solid inter to make a mesh inner for ventilation or for warmer months. Lots of people recommend the naturehike Mongar pro also. More mesh inside so more airflow, better for warmer months but perfectly fine as a 3 season tent. Also I can recommend the cloud up 2, I recently did a mini review on it, wasn’t the right tent for me but lots of people like it and it’s a great first tent. Check out temu or Ali express, very good deals on naturehike tents. You need to get a move on though as it can take 2 weeks to deliver. Also camperlists normally isn’t the cheapest but it’s normally cheaper than Amazon, again 2 weeks delivery (sometimes quicker). If you just want an easy delivery and don’t want to order from china (some people don’t want to). You can order from Amazon. The cloud peak isn’t anything like a hubba lol, maybe you’re thinking of the mongar! The cloud peak is also heavy at 2.6kg Naturehike monger would be worth consideration for OP. I personally feel it has too much mesh and the fly is too high of the ground and that it is very much a summer tent. Naturehike monger 2 20d pro version in olive green is currently £160 on Ali, £20 off when you spend £159 right now so £140. It’s very roomy, easy to pitch, 3000mm hh, 2 side doors with 2 vestibules. The wieght is heavier at 1.8kg but you will be hard to pushed to find something lighter with all the bells and whistles of this style of tent for the price. Shop around, I have seen it cheaper, maybe more like £100-£120 price range.

Nice gear imo. I've got a mongar and also their 3 pole one... cloud peak? 1.8 vs 2.3kg. It's sturdier and randomly also easier to get in and out of. Both go well but I prefer the heavier tent in all but the warmest weather.

Cloud Peak 2 is another option, super light and spacious for the price

I've only used the cloud peak of those 2 and really didn't get on with it, I know others use and have no issue with it. The 2 tents you have mentioned are very different to each other, what has drawn you to these 2 specifically? I'd suggest thinking about the features you really want, for £200 you have a hell of a lot of options new and used. Do you need space for 2 people or 1+gear? Inner or outer first? Trekking pole shelter or traditional poles? What style of shelter? (Tunnel, dome, mid etc) 1 big or 2 small vestibules? Front or side entry? Weight or durability focused? What sort of weather do you realistically want to camp in?

Naturehike Cloud Peak is better than the Cloud Up: side doors rather than end door, basically a clone of the MSR Hubba. Very roomy inside, free standing.

I bought the CP2 and it's a cracking tent BUT, I wish I went for the Lanshan 2(not the pro), especially since I carry trekking poles. There's nothing wrong with the CP2 but you can save so much space and weight in your pack and have a faster tent to put up/take down. The CP2 is a bit of a drag to put up after a hard day's hike, the flip side of this, is that it's a really nice, sturdy tent (from the budget end) to be in.. Especially after all the little mods you can carry out, heavier bungie cord, guy ropes etc. If anyone has a Lanshan 2 that wants a modded Cloud peak 2, hit me up for a swap 😂

Can confirm. I took my wife wild camping in my Banshee 200, it was "cosy" but the weather was nice enough to be out in the open.. The second time was the last time she came and that was 4 years ago. I have a Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 and it's great, plenty of room for 2, sturdy, but is on the heavier side of things.. Imo, go for the Lanshan 2 (not the pro). It's definitely my next tent!

Hi, I can say that the CloudPeak 2 is an excellent value for money tent. Had it for couple of years and used it many times. It’s based on the shape of the Hilleberg Allak but at a fifth of the price. I’m always careful with the zips, avoid being heavy handed and it’ll be absolutely fine. Pros: good head room, two large vestibules and it’s free standing. Used mine last night in the Peaks and once I got it sorted I could move it around to get the best flat pitch before pegging in properly. I’ve reviewed it on my YT channel Hiking for Health if that’s of any use for you. https://youtu.be/Ym7eD6Wgxf4?si=bX2_4SR8odZOjcWp Get one, you’ll love it I’m sure.

Me and my partner like our Nature hike Cloud Peak 2. Fits to wide mats and has a vestibule each

Don't know about that one. I have a Vango Banshee 200 which I wouldn't recommend for two even though it is a two person. And a OEX bobcat, which is a (great) 1 man. The cloud peak has been my most recent buy, and I have a lot of love for this tent. Have even taken it on my last few solo adventures

The top cap is really tensioned so not been a problem for me. I was up in some high winds in the lakes last week, and the more annoying bit was the storm flap on the door was noisy because of the orientation I had pitched the tent. Other than that, it stood up great to what was some strong winds
