I have the Cloud Up EXT 2-Person Ultralight tent and it's sick. Mine weighs 2.6 lbs without a footprint. It's definitely not a four season tent, but I have used it this past fall in snowy / freezing conditions below tree line. I think I'd look at the Black Diamond HiLight 3P tent or the ArcDome 2 if I wanted a four season tent right now. A sturdy three season tent like the Durston X-dome 2 might work for me too.

I don't have one so I can't confirm how it deals with rain, but does it even matter for a four season tent?

I’m a fan of Mongar 2 over CloudUp if you’re considering 2p tents from Naturehike. Take a look at these (specifically the new UL edition). Value-wise both are great for the price.

I had the similar Cloud Wing 10D with the same fabric as the Cloud UP 10D and i loved it. Now I own the Cloud Up 15D in grey because an airline lost my baggage with the cloud wing lol. What sucked with the Cloud Wing: - The 10D fabric is quite delicate and the stuff sack in the same 10D fabric ripped quite early on when taking out the tent. - The cloud wing's 1.5 wall design sucked as it trapped bugs in it's side wing. - When the fabric gets wet the fabric sags and you should use the guy lines. ⠀ What I liked - The fabric feels amazing to touch - Big tent for just 1kg - Waterproof, kept me dry - packs so small - the color combo, that translucent white and yellow made me feel in a good mood to start the day - Sun wakes you up because of the translucent fabric. ⠀ So my advice to you is to use the gui lines and buy better tent stakes.

Adding to the cloud up 2p feels like a 1.5 point, first backpacking trips with a 10 year old get annoying fast when the tent is already maxed out. I did one wet weekend in a cramped two person setup and spent more energy managing gear than enjoying camp. Since you already have a large car camping tent, I'd keep the backpacking tent purpose built.

If you’re set on the price point of the Elixir 2, I’d suggest maybe looking at other options you got like the Big Agnes Blacktail 2 or the Nemo Aurora 2P The reason I say this is because the Elixir 2 is quite heavy you know…considering the thick fabrics that it has If you want something a lil more cheaper and even lighter, try looking at the Durston X-Mid 2 or the Naturehike Cloud Up 2 which I’ve used and can’t complain about anything really. [11 Best 2 Person Tents for Camping and Backpacking](https://alaskanarrows.com/11-best-2-person-tent-camping-and-backpacking/) for a few more options to choose from as well Also since you’re getting your first tent, a 2-person tent is actually a 1-person tent plus a tiny bit of gear space. If you are actually planning on sleeping two adults in there, always go for a 3-person model unless you’re comfortable being shoulder-to-shoulder with your hiking partner. And also always look for a tent with two doors and two vestibules (the little porch areas under the rainfly). Just having your own exit means you aren’t crawling over your buddy for a midnight bathroom break and you’ll have a dry spot to stash your muddy boots and pack too

I have a Naturehike cloud up 2 mostly for backpacking. Feels like a good tent for someone new to backpacking/bikepacking. You could spend $400+ on a tent, but unless you really know what you want and have a tent in mind, its a bit much for not much.
