I have a Tagar 2 which I have used cor solo camping. I imagine the Tagar 1 might be a bit snug with your gear inside. It is single skin, so there is an extra element of condensation, but the couple of times I’ve used it it has not been enough to cause an issue. It is the lightest tent I have and sets up nice and easy, although I am still debating how useful the included footprint is. First use was in torrential rain, and I mean torrential by uk standards, and strong winds. Footprint ended up collecting water which pooled under the tent and may have had some ingress because of this. That night there was a little light spray of rain getting through, but it was extreme rain. I own a few Naturehike tents (Cloud Up 1, Cloud Peak, Opalus 2) and rate them all pretty highly and never really had a problem with any of them.

Ok, so both of those get decent reviews, and lots of people use them for wild camping. But here's the thing - neither of them are big, and you've talked about *backpacking*. I *really* would not fancy tents like that for two people and all their gear, with cooking and getting changed, for a 3/4/5 day backpacking trip. Look at a tunnel tent with an extended vestibule - something like the Vango Xenon UL 2+, Naturehike Oppalus2, Nordisk Oppland2. Tunnel tents have a down side, which is that they can be a bit more fussy about where they are pitched in relation to wind direction if it's being a bit blowy - but they offer *vast* amounts of room for their weight.

We got a naturehike Opulus 2. AliExpress low seats (like the helinox ones) also fit in the vestibule.

In the army we used bivy sacks, not tents, but I still always brought two contractor size garbage bags along to protect my gear from rain. I would imagine that could be a cheap effective solution for keeping your gear/bike dry. But, on the tent side of the discussion, I actually use the nature hike opalus tunnel tent, which has a massive vestibule. I am yet to use it for a bike trip, but I doubt that the vestibule would fit my bike without removing the front tire. I have this particular tent because when I go summer backpacking, I can bring my dogs along and the vestibule makes a nice place for them to sleep. It fits my needs well. I recommend it… if it fits your needs well. $199.99 https://preview.redd.it/xxglwsinrx7e1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=f9a84742192468148eb1286f39fd933df7541b48

The weight on the 210t tent on Amazon is wrong. The grey one is 20D and should be 1.8kg. The Mongar is a knock off of the MSR Hubba Hubba. I've been using a 3F UL Gear Hubba knockoff for several years now, in the PNW and it's a great tent. No problems with rain at all. I'm sure the Mongar is similar quality.

I have a naturehike backpacking tent and a sleeping bag. Both are great. I got them years ago when they were cheap. The prices have since doubled.

We picked up a 2p Nature hike tents off of Amazon and it was the happy medium you're looking for. It has quickly become our favourite tent. The poles are super easy and intuitive to put together. The tent is durable and has plenty of space too!

Was gifted a 2 person Naturehike easy enough to set up. 1 rain and a couple sprinkles and dry inside. Look for a tent with pole clips for easy assembly. Pushing rods through sleeves can try my patience. Waterproofing a tent is a simple process. Don't let that determine a purchase. Rain fly should cover the entire tent. It also helps keep the warmth in when needed.

Will depend exactly what you're comfortable with, and how much gear you have, but the Naturehike 2 person tents are pretty much big enough to actually fit two people. Vestibules are substantial. I mention this because I belive they are in stock online (in the UK at least). The Star River is probably better for cold than the Mongar. Very similar design but less mesh in the inner.
