Ok, so both of those get decent reviews, and lots of people use them for wild camping. But here's the thing - neither of them are big, and you've talked about *backpacking*. I *really* would not fancy tents like that for two people and all their gear, with cooking and getting changed, for a 3/4/5 day backpacking trip. Look at a tunnel tent with an extended vestibule - something like the Vango Xenon UL 2+, Naturehike Oppalus2, Nordisk Oppland2. Tunnel tents have a down side, which is that they can be a bit more fussy about where they are pitched in relation to wind direction if it's being a bit blowy - but they offer *vast* amounts of room for their weight.

You're in the wrong sub for this - but as the owner of a Nordisk tent, albeit a Oppland backpacking tent, I'd take a Nordisk over anything except perhaps a Hilleberg any day of the week. Materials, build quality, design...

I'll be honest, I think you're going to struggle finding much under 3.5kg for a *true* Scottish winter tent. I've got a Nordisk Oppland tunnel tent, and I *really* rate it, but I'm just not convinced it would cope with a storm in the Cairngorms in February/March - the geography and UK weather systems means swirling winds that change direction relentlessly, and a tunnel tent just isn't going to cope with that - you need a full geodesic for those conditions, and a geodesic is just never going to be light. If I was in the market for something on those lines I'd be looking at Terra Nova, Alpkit (I've got a Kangri that I really rate, but it's touching 4kg, and probably not big enough for what you need) Mountain Hardware, and the Nordic brands like Hilleburg, Fjallraven etc...
