OEX - Jackal II

I’ve got a jackal 2 that I’ve used about 3/4 times that you can have for £50 if you want. I’ve upgraded since so it’s just sitting sad waiting to be used lol

I have a the jackal 2 specifically because it pitches outer first. Yes it's going to be more weight to lug around however it I feel it has two really big advantages. Firstly you can strip it down and just use the outer, now this is ground dependant but you have a lot of space for admin inside without the inner so provided you can find somewhere that isn't to damp underfoot or warmer evenings it's great Secondly if the weather is howling you aren't getting your inner wet before getting the waterproof layer up. Overall I've been really happy with it and have had no issues at all.

I have an OEX Jackal 2, it's bombproof and massive. I've had it up on summits in heavy rain and 40-50mph winds and was toasty inside, and it's an outer pitch first. I'd actually take it over any of the other ones you're looking at, but to be honest, any of them would do ok up the Scottish mountains. Whatever you pick, have fun when you get out there

OEX Jackal 2 Plenty of room for 2 inside with a huge porch area for gear and cooking. Its on the heavy side at 3kg but its bombproof, easy on the budget and an excellent first tent. Check out some review videos on youtube. Other than that, I'd suggest a 3-person tent.

I got The Jackall II as a beginner tent and it is very good but I was left wishing for a bigger porch space and a lighter load. But inside space is very good and it’s clearly a robust tent
