Have a look at the OEX Phoxx 2 Brilliant water coverage, fairly lightweight, packs down very small and holds up quite steady. I use it for scouting and it's brilliant
r/wildcampingintheuk • Looking for my first 2-person tent for camping/backpacking. ->Phoxx 2 over the hyena for the most simple thing, it has aluminium poles, fibreglass poles are horrible and can break far too easy. It’s a damn good tent that got me into wild camping. There’s a reason it has so many reviews and why it appears on YouTube so much. And for the price, you ain’t beating it!
r/wildcampingintheuk • Oex Phoxx 2 Vs the Hyena II Tunnel Tent? ->Pegs are doable, they’re your standard hook shaped ones. If you would like improvements then look for some Y pegs. They are a real upgrade and more bad weather worthy too. See what other folk might say for the Rakoon 2 as I’ve no experience with that tent, I think it will give you more headroom, I know the Phoxx it good in bad weather and it’s easy AF to pitch also.

r/wildcampingintheuk • Looking for Lightweight Tent Recommendations Under £250 (UK-Based, Camino + UK 3-Season Use) ->I went for the Phoxx 2 when having the same debate over similar tents when upgrading from a Vango Soul 1. What did it for me was the 2 vestibules either side meaning I can store gear in one and cook/do admin in the other and use as an exit. I use it mainly for bikepacking. I’m under 6ft and can sit up in it comfortably. I like how low profile it is and it is very sturdy in the wind. Overall I’ve been very happy with the Phoxx 2.
r/wildcampingintheuk • Oex Phoxx 2 Vs the Hyena II Tunnel Tent? ->Seconded. It's very much a 1-man plus luggage and isn't a tent for lounging around in during the day (due to limited headroom), but as a hiking/backpacking tent for e.g. Scotland, it's great. Relatively small/lightweight for price, great hydrostatic head for the price. I use it on multi-day Munro adventures, but tend to leave it as a base tent, as opposed to lugging up the peaks.
r/wildcampingintheuk • Looking for my first 2-person tent for camping/backpacking. ->Used an OEX Hyena on 6 expeditions so far and it has been perfect - no leaks and poles have withstood 50+mph winds, maybe I've been lucky, but so far so good. I've borrowed a Phoxx II a couple of times and that has been good but I couldn't sit up in it quite as well as in the Hyena. Neither ultralight, but for the price they are great. I'd go for a 2-man tent, which then has space for you and your bag. If they had the Rakoon II (the next tent I've been eyeing up) with the Hyena's outer first pitch system, it would be perfect.
