So Ozark Trail is actually a pretty good brand, for awhile. What you get is actually really thought out and you usually get very decent quality and amenities, but the durability is not there. If you are doing it from time to time, or trying to test the waters to see if you want to invest more later then I say go for it. I have a 5 year old Ozark that is a direct knock off of the Coleman sundome and I got it for like 40 bucks and it’s still going strong, with just a bit of stress along the seams, but I seal and tape those up. It’s a good backyard tent for my kids now.

Ozark trail makes good family tents. We returned our LL Bean tent 2 times due to shoddy workmanship and leaks . Each was set up 3 times and used a week at a time . The Ozark trail has far surpassed the quality of LLBean as far as water infiltration ( 0 leaks in OT seams even in torrential rain) I am no fan of Walmart but these tents are great. Cheap . Easy set up . Good warranty .

I have one of the big Ozark Trails tents and have used it for five years without problems. OTOH my last Coleman had a zipper problem that led to it's being thrown away. Luck of the draw.

Their fabric is damn thin. Do not use this tent in rain. You will regret it, I promise.

It should be just fine for your use case if weight isn’t a factor. I own expensive tents but I also have a cheap $30 Ozark trail tent I bought in 2019, only use it for local 1 nighters and it’s still fine. Only thing I’d recommend is hit all the seams with water proofing spray, especially around the bottom where the fabric is stitched to the tarp floor. I just buy the 3M stuff that is recommended for outdoors, think it has a tent picture on the spray can.

r/AppalachianTrailWhat's the best 2-person backpacking tent? Any suggestions?

This will not be a popular answer lol. I usually do 3 to 4 night backpacking trips. I bought a $30 Big Cat tent off of Amazon and used it regularly for two years until I broke one of the poles. I had a trip planned so I stopped at Walmart and picked up a $19 Ozark Trail tent. I used it all week and it was exactly what I needed. It was super easy to set up. I would recommend a footprint, though. The flooring of the tent is not the best quality but hey, it was $19.
