So Ozark Trail is actually a pretty good brand, for awhile. What you get is actually really thought out and you usually get very decent quality and amenities, but the durability is not there. If you are doing it from time to time, or trying to test the waters to see if you want to invest more later then I say go for it. I have a 5 year old Ozark that is a direct knock off of the Coleman sundome and I got it for like 40 bucks and it’s still going strong, with just a bit of stress along the seams, but I seal and tape those up. It’s a good backyard tent for my kids now.

Wal Mart has a brand called Ozark Trail. I had one of their dome tents for 10 years. I camp at least a dozen times a year, including winter hunting camps in the rainy PNW. It outperformed many of my friends’ high-end tents in a lot of ways. I replaced it with a high-end model when it finally gave up because I could afford one at that point, but I was consistently impressed with that $50 tent that took heavy use without a hitch for a decade.

I've got probably the exact same tent, came with sleeping bags for 120, its been great, fairly easy to set up if you dont have to constantly move it, and the only pieces you can seem to lose are the pegs and the piece that holds the rain fly up over the door, pretty much every time we've set it up has been in the dark and it wasn't too hard to figure out, we've had it for 3 years and it still looks brand new

I bought an $80 Ozark Trail six person tent from Walmart because my kids wanted to camp in the backyard over the summer. It got set up and taken down probably 25 times and left out for a week or two because I got tired of setting it up and taking it down. For $80, if I had to turn around tomorrow and throw it away, I'd have no issues because (in my opinion) I got my moneys worth out of it. It's done the job in terms of being both waterproof and bug-proof. All of that to say - it's holding up just fine and looks like we'll get plenty more use out of it!

I had a cheap Ozark Trails dome tent for 20 years and it never failed me, or friends that used it, until the last year when friends said some water was getting in. I could've taped and glued the seams and sprayed water proofing on the fly, but hell, id gotten 20 years of good use and had already been using a different tent myself for a few years. Id suggest them for anybody just getting into camping, or doing a lot of car camping. But, for backpacking, bikecamping, or kayak camping, id suggest something that is lighter and packs down smaller.

I noticed you asked about the Ozark Trail tents. I have experience with the Ozark Trail dome tents 3, 4 and 6 person tents. 4 person is only for 2 people. If you are thinking to have your sister in law with you both then you’ve got to go with the 6 person. I bought extra tents for a camp trip for visiting guests and didn’t want to spend too much money so I bought the Ozark Trail dome tents at Walmart. They are a light grey with a green fly. They are ok and totally doable but I would not say these are for high use. The material seemed thinner than my better tents. they are pretty basic if that what you are after. The one thing I didn’t like about this particular model was the light grey color along with the thinner material let in a lot of light. The tent got hotter as if there was less barrier to the elements. And it got really bright as soon as the sun was up. Edit: This comment was not referring to the Dark Rest model. It is for the regular dome tent model.

The Ozark trail 6 person was just fine for a full year of use. We had some good rain storms, wind, beach and mountain camping.. We upgraded after learning more about how me and my fiance camp together and Rei had a great sale on large tents. I got rid of it after a leak happened in our storage unit and it was super, super moldy. We now have the northface wawona and love it but the Ozark trail is a good, cheap starting point.

I have a couple ozark trail 1 and 3 person tents that are fine, but a 6 person one that is very difficult to set up. They are not great tents, but they are cheap and mostly usable. And because they are cheap, if you use it a few times and throw it out you don’t feel bad about the cost.
