I had a cheap Ozark Trails dome tent for 20 years and it never failed me, or friends that used it, until the last year when friends said some water was getting in. I could've taped and glued the seams and sprayed water proofing on the fly, but hell, id gotten 20 years of good use and had already been using a different tent myself for a few years. Id suggest them for anybody just getting into camping, or doing a lot of car camping. But, for backpacking, bikecamping, or kayak camping, id suggest something that is lighter and packs down smaller.

I have an Ozark trails 2 person tent that I haven't had any issues with, that I've used for week long camping trips in all 4 seasons. However I've found their larger tents 6-8 person tents to be unreliable once the wind picks up or it rains too hard.

I actually have purchased 2 of the 2 person version (I bought the 2nd because I simply couldn't find the 1st) and it has done very well for me. I never took it backpacking, but it was surprisingly a decent quality tent that I didn't feel like it was going to be destroyed any time soon (unlike the tigerwall ul I just got. The ul tents are so damn thin it scares me). I think I paid $30 for the Ozark trail tent. Great value for what it is.

I noticed you asked about the Ozark Trail tents. I have experience with the Ozark Trail dome tents 3, 4 and 6 person tents. 4 person is only for 2 people. If you are thinking to have your sister in law with you both then you’ve got to go with the 6 person. I bought extra tents for a camp trip for visiting guests and didn’t want to spend too much money so I bought the Ozark Trail dome tents at Walmart. They are a light grey with a green fly. They are ok and totally doable but I would not say these are for high use. The material seemed thinner than my better tents. they are pretty basic if that what you are after. The one thing I didn’t like about this particular model was the light grey color along with the thinner material let in a lot of light. The tent got hotter as if there was less barrier to the elements. And it got really bright as soon as the sun was up. Edit: This comment was not referring to the Dark Rest model. It is for the regular dome tent model.

I have an Ozark Trail 2-person tent that has served me well on several bikepacking trips. I've used it from early spring to late fall and had no issues, including in the rain. My assessment is that it's a decent cheap starter tent. I don't know how well the larger sizes hold up though.
