You’re gonna laugh but we used an Ozark trail wall tent for two solid summers and wound up giving it to a friend’s son who wants to be a Maine guide. We put a tarp over it and it was dry all summer and withstood a hurricane the second year. No problems whatsoever. It does have a chimney slot but we never used that hence the tarp. Apparently it’s out of stock at Walmart where it was regularly priced around $400. BUT I just found it at the link below for under $70 which is insane. I don’t know that website but that’s a steal. This was our setup. It’s 10x12 ETA: we stayed in it down to 40F with warm sleeping bags and cots and it was fine. https://preview.redd.it/m3oijt5pc2ug1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c5cb13a5939526fbce464b310a2cfd1d1318b4b [https://outdoorfurnitureelite.com/product/ozark-trail-6-person-north-fork-12x10-outdoor-wall-tent-with-stove-jack/](https://outdoorfurnitureelite.com/product/ozark-trail-6-person-north-fork-12x10-outdoor-wall-tent-with-stove-jack/)
I've got probably the exact same tent, came with sleeping bags for 120, its been great, fairly easy to set up if you dont have to constantly move it, and the only pieces you can seem to lose are the pegs and the piece that holds the rain fly up over the door, pretty much every time we've set it up has been in the dark and it wasn't too hard to figure out, we've had it for 3 years and it still looks brand new
I bought an $80 Ozark Trail six person tent from Walmart because my kids wanted to camp in the backyard over the summer. It got set up and taken down probably 25 times and left out for a week or two because I got tired of setting it up and taking it down. For $80, if I had to turn around tomorrow and throw it away, I'd have no issues because (in my opinion) I got my moneys worth out of it. It's done the job in terms of being both waterproof and bug-proof. All of that to say - it's holding up just fine and looks like we'll get plenty more use out of it!
I've had a Ozark Trail 6 man tent from Walmart for several years. It packs up nice and small, and will comfortably fit two people with all their gear. I can set it up by myself in about 20 minutes. You'll want to throw a tarp over it for when it rains.
The Ozark trail 6 person was just fine for a full year of use. We had some good rain storms, wind, beach and mountain camping.. We upgraded after learning more about how me and my fiance camp together and Rei had a great sale on large tents. I got rid of it after a leak happened in our storage unit and it was super, super moldy. We now have the northface wawona and love it but the Ozark trail is a good, cheap starting point.
I am not a fan of big box stores . But.... we have found the best tent for rain is the Ozark trail 6 man tent We have had LLBean and other expensive tents and hands down Ozark Trail has preformed the best in a hard driving rain . We also have 1 tent that is a 4 man for storage For full disclosure , I have a Slumberjack " day break " 6 man tent it is great in the rain.. My niece has 2 kids and is the one that uses Ozark trail brand. No matter what brand we always " fly " a nylon tarp about 3 feet above the tents if we know the weather can turn.
