My Oztrail Hiker 2 (an A-frame style tent) with a heavy-duty tarpaulin over the top, with anchored extension fly-cords through every eyelet, withstood a 100 km/h storm last year..
The Oztrail Hiker2 tent I lived in for 15 months while lapping Australia on a motorcycle is laughing at you from Tent Valhalla where it was brought by the Valkyries of Bushwalking after I binned it from the fly finally deteriorating from UV. Eh, the H2 is surprisingly well-designed for its price-point, and is the only tent I'd take through the Top End during Wet Season because of its exceptional ventilation.
I love my little ozark 2 person backpacking tent. Fits my wife and I comfortably. Super easy to set up - didn’t even come with directions and we figured it out on the fly!
I grabbed the ozark trails 2 person backpacking tent last fall for $17 on sale. I use that when I go on solo trips and my two kids use it when we all go out.
I have a different ozark trails tent that I love. Ive been eyeing that A frame myself. I saw someone at a spot next to me that had it and asked them about it and they said they recommend it.
Honestly I don’t think you’ll have much trouble. I bought a 6 person Ozark tent for me my son and partner when we went to Utah last year and hadn’t gone since I was 11 or 12 and set it up on my own because they’re so different now lol!!!! Didn’t have to slide poles through fight anything etc. mine just clicked to the poles. So as long as you feel comfortable with the price and brand 2 person Ozark should be ok! Esp to start off. We had good blankets weren’t cold at all had 0 tent issues (:
Lol I meant because some people call them cheap!!! I think they’re decent either way. :D
Naturehike mongar, featherstone granite or backbone, or honestly even the $80 ozark trail backpacking tent are all perfectly fine and much cheaper. Same thing with sleeping pad you can go much cheaper. Paria, REI helix, or even the bestway Alpinlite from Amazon. I also love my tobtos UL80. Not warm at all but DIRT cheap and super comfy Sleeping bag is fine. You could find a lighter one but that one is very comfy.
Ozark trail backpacking tent from Walmart is cheap and doesn't suck.
