"I have also used a 20+ pound REI Kingdome when space was less of an issue."
My car camping tent is an REI Kingdom 4. I love it. There is plenty of space. You can stand up in it. There are doors at both ends that allow for great airflow. I have a queen size camp cot that fits great in it so I'm sure two small cots and a dog bed would be no trouble.
r/camping • Tent recommendations for a couple of senior gentleman? ->There was a tipping point (around 12yo/5th-6th grade) where the kids wanted their own tent and not to share with mom/dad. Scouts also played a role where Boy Scouts don’t camp with parents anymore and we started getting into backpacking more than car camping as a family. I have an REI tent that is 2-rooms (plus “garage” and “porch”) that could easily fit 6-8 people but hasn’t been touched in years because now each kid has their own 1-2p tent that can be used for car camping, backpacking, or scout camping. So keep in mind the next 3-5 years when deciding what is best for camping right now. That said, I confess that I have an embarrassing number of tents in the basement but only ever use the same 3-4 tents (plus hammocks).
r/REI • 2 tents or 1 for a family of 5? ->We have the kingdom with the garage. Perfect for four. Garage is great place to store things and make a rainproof hang out area. Good pockets. Easy to put up and down for a big tent. We have had some other rei tents destroyed in windstorms but in spite of its size - it has held firm. Even repels buffalo:)
r/camping • 4 person family, 8 person tent recommendations? ->You can find a used REI kingdom for that cost. We really love ours
r/camping • Do you guys have experience with these? ->No but Coleman is typically low to mid grade, I'd recommend higher quality brands like Big Agnes, REI, Marmot, etc. which you can probably find for a price pretty close to that (especially if there's a sale). I mostly hammock camp these days, but I also have a fair amount of tent experience in an REI Kingdom (big, decent for car camping) and a Big Agnes Seedhouse (small, light, great 2 person tent).
r/camping • Do you guys have experience with these? ->Me too, I have the half dome plus for trips where packing volume matters but weight is not an issue and also because it is more roomy and made of more robust fabrics. I do a fair amount of trips that start with a flight so a lighter tent that takes up less room is a must. Copper Spur is perfect though I have also used a 20+ pound REI Kingdome when space was less of an issue.
r/CampingGear • Gearlabs top 19 tents are all 200$+. One is even over a thousand. Are those of ua getting the 70$ amazon special really buying junk?! ->Any reason why you want it connected? I’ve had an REI Kingdom for years and love it. You could connect its “garage” via tarp
r/HondaOdyssey • Best Camping tent accessory ->REI Wonderland is hard to beat. I had the predecessor, the Kingdom and absolutely loved it. The full mesh ceiling and walls let it breathe incredibly well, and the (almost) full length rain fly let it hold up incredibly in bad weather. And since it's a tunnel and not a dome, it's peak height runs the whole length.
r/camping • Car camping tent recommendations ->The Wonderland (currently) only comes in a 4, and 6 person version. But the "titanium" version (no, the poles aren't titanium) is [currently on clearance. ](https://www.rei.com/product/227867/rei-co-op-wonderland-6-titanium-tent) If you're okay with a 6 person, my personal favorite is the [Nemo Aurora Highrise](https://www.rei.com/product/241349/nemo-aurora-highrise-6-person-tent). The Kingdom was one of the best things REI ever made for the cost. Glad it served you well.
r/REI • Tent Shopping ->If a ten person tent is your jam go for it. I have a six person tent I use for the campgrounds. I will only put it up if I am staying at least three days. I use my REI four person for anything less than that. We don’t spend much time in the tent. It’s just for sleeping.
r/camping • is it normal to bring a 12 or 10 person tent for a couple? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
