I have a Kingdom 6 from REI, rain fly goes all the way to the ground. Had it in a multi day downpour and not a drop inside the tent
r/CampingGear • I’m looking for an 6-10 person tent for family camping, but all the tents I have found only have a small “hat”-type rain fly. Any recommendations for a tent of that size with a full coverage rain fly? ->I have an old REI Kingdom 6 tent. I could stand in that as a 6’3 guy with shoes. I’m surprised that REI doesn’t have an equivalent nowadays Edit: Wonderland series. The 6 says a 6’6 peak height.
r/CampingGear • Looking for a tent for a 6’5” man to stand up in. Suggestions? ->Fwiw, I bought an REI 6p Kingdom tent 2 years ago. First time it was used, was with my 7yo daughter & her 7yo bf overnight in backyard. Not fully staked, like this is base of mountains country. Moderate winds + girls playing caused an interior pole to bend like a straw. Tent cant be pitched without that pole. REI sells no replacement. So ruined. Biggest waste of money ever.
r/camping • Is it worth it as a couple to buy a "bigger" tent for car camping? ->Has yours ever leaked into the inside? I just recently redid all the interior seams and sprayed waterproofer on the rainfly. However the front door still gets water into the inside "bottom floor" section. All around the tent edges water seeps inside.
r/CampingGear • Suggestions for 6 person tent? ->Just camped in a downpour and the front door leaked in on me. I think i need to buy some urethane coating to do the whole floor. maybe that will save this tent
r/CampingGear • Suggestions for 6 person tent? ->I have the REI Kingdom 6 and love it. It's been replaced by the Wonderland 6, and the Wirecutter review was pretty positive.
r/CampingGear • Suggestions for 6 person tent? ->We have an old rei kingdom 6 and it’s freakin glorious. Just the two of us and our dog, so roomy! Easy to change, spread out a little, etc. we have a garage attachment as well and it’s great!
r/camping • Is it worth it as a couple to buy a "bigger" tent for car camping? ->My car-camping tent is a Kingdom 6 from REI. [https://www.rei.com/product/147958/rei-co-op-kingdom-6-tent](https://www.rei.com/product/147958/rei-co-op-kingdom-6-tent) I'd love to replace it with a fabric tent one day, but this one for now is great for my wife, dog, and I for just about every car-camping trip we've ever done. I think it's 10ish years old - have used it at least 100 nights.
r/CampingGear • If weight is no longer a constraint, what would you choose for a freestanding tent? ->Agree. I have Tipi tents and a REI Kingdom 6 - with a huge add on vestibule. More space is better. The main thing is you want a tent you can stand up in. If you get a Tipi tent you need to make sure it has enough ventilation.
r/CampingGear • Family Car Camping Tent Recommendations ->I prefer tents with a full rainfly -- Kelty, some REI, Nemo, Marmot, that Northface Wawona. Many of the cheaper brands have partial rainflys that I don't think cut it as well. My wife and I have the REI Kingdom 6, love it, and have used it for years. I think they call it the wonderland now and it has okay reviews. But its huge and standable and its lasted for tons of fests. Any 6 person tent will be a challenge for 6 people. 4 People would work in a lot of 6p tents but check dimensions. That Nemo Aurora 6 has way smaller dimensions for a 6 person tent than my Kingdom 6. I personally don't think I'd go higher than a 6p tent though, a lot of the bigger ones can be a challenge at some fests and campsites.
r/ElectricForest • Can anyone recommend a good quality waterproof tent for 4/6 people? ->We got the REI kingdom 6 (now the wonderland) for just the two of us. Hubs can stand up we have room for our stuff we love it. Bit crowded now that we added two kids but we head out long before they came.
r/camping • Is it worth it as a couple to buy a "bigger" tent for car camping? ->This is what I got for my 6’3” hubs as well to stand up in. Great tent.
r/CampingGear • Looking for a tent for a 6’5” man to stand up in. Suggestions? ->If you can’t split up, then I really would encourage an eight person tent. That’s a lot of people for a six person tent. You’re going to feel cramped. But if you’re committed to a six person tent, I’d probably give REI’s wonderland a whirl. I have the Kingdom 6 — its precursor — and it’s great. The anniversary sale is going on right now, so it’s a good time to buy.
r/CampingGear • Help me find the right tent for our family of 6! ->Rented an REI Kingdom 6 that does two rooms, and was pretty satisfied with it- it's been replaced by the Wonderland 6 that looks pretty similar. Roomy tent but takes up a chunk of space on a campsite, I'd be reluctant to go bigger unless you happen to have generously sized campsites in your neck of the woods. You can get the mudroom as an add-on for some extra space to store stuff. What about doing something like the Wonderland 6 or another two room tent, and then getting a screened shelter for your daytime/ hanging out space? We don't really spend a lot of time *in* our tent when we camp except for sleeping.
r/CampingGear • Advice on a good multiroom family tent ->Gotcha- given that scenario I think you might do pretty well with the kingdom 6 or similar two room tent with a mudroom plus a screen shelter that has some rainwalls - if only because your new and used options with that kind of approach are going to be a lot broader. We just did three days of rain with a pop up shade and a tarp as a makeshift lean-to on the windward side. It was really nice to have rain space that wasn't the tent. We do a one-room 6 person tent, the Northface Wawona 6, but it has a massive vestibule so the equipment storage is more than covered. Mudroom on the Kingdom 6 has a little less headroom but similar storage space.
r/CampingGear • Advice on a good multiroom family tent ->We (2 adults) camped for years in a Kingdom 6. It was nice to have the space, you can easily stand and get dressed, keep clean and dirty clothes sorted, room for the dog.
r/camping • Is it worth it as a couple to buy a "bigger" tent for car camping? ->6'3 checking in. Love my REI kingdom 6.
r/CampingGear • Looking for recommendations for tents for tall people ->REI Kingdom 6 is a great tent for my wife and two sons. https://preview.redd.it/3xfqvvo8hazc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=928613cf1a1b100ad4958ae5a28d6a01877c67f7
r/camping • Tent camping for family of 4 ->I have an rei kingdom 6 with the front porch for car camping. Fits two queen sized mattresses with a partition in the middle. If I am traveling alone I will usually take a small tent.
r/camping • First couple field tests for the Wawona 6 from The North Face ->REI Kingdome. Lots of fun add-ons. I’m 6’-3”.
r/camping • 4 Man tent with space to stand up ->I have 3–when I want to “glamp”, an REI Kingdome. My all purpose tent is a 3 person Marmot tent that I’ve had for almost a decade. My backpacking tent for me and my dog is a Nemo Hornet. I agree with whoever said go cheap when you’re starting out, everyone has different preferences and it’s better to learn yours when you haven’t sunk a bunch of money into your equipment. That being said, you can definitely shop smart and get good deals on the good stuff. The Nemo was VERY expensive and I did pay full price, but very worth it to me as I’m getting older and can’t carry as much weight into the wilderness without a back ache. The REI and Marmot I got on clearance and used my REI members rebate on each time. ETA: it also depends on what kind of camping you’re doing—car camping, you don’t really need anything fancy or lightweight. Backpacking is a different story.
r/camping • What brand of tent do you guys have? ->I can also recommend the REI Kingdom tents! I had one up for several seasons in the Hoh Rainforest (I'm talking up the whole time from May- September) and never had leak issues. As with any tent with a full-coverage rainfly, just make sure you have the interior windows open to allow for proper ventilation.
r/CampingGear • I’m looking for an 6-10 person tent for family camping, but all the tents I have found only have a small “hat”-type rain fly. Any recommendations for a tent of that size with a full coverage rain fly? ->Used to backpack and all my gear was oriented for that. Now 62 and can't quit camping, so we have a standup tent and I have a cot and love both items. I recommend spending a bit more for quality as that also adds to the 'older' experience. I went with a 6ppl REI tent and it is fabulous. 2 adults and 2 standard poodles fit in and I can stand up and not step on a dog on the way out. Totally a good investment IMO. Good luck.
