"I had mine staked down in packed sand during a rainstorm that dropped 1.5”-2” per hour for 3 hours according to a ranger station nearby and it took it like a champ."

"has withstood the last week of winds over 70 freezing kph."

"I love having that screened in foyer. ... Helps with keeping the main cabin clean and if the bugs are bad, I can sit in there and not get eaten alive."

"it had a built in screen porch side that gave you the choice to have a tent and screen porch all in one. A true glamping tent!"

"I also refuse to let bugs into the tent if possible and I had a [6 person Coleman] tent that had a “screened porch” feature ... There were two separate zipper doors, so we made sure one door was always closed (I.e. if you want to go into the main tent area, close the outer one)."

"I'll almost always go with a tent I can stand in when car camping!"

"since it's a tunnel and not a dome, it's peak height runs the whole length"

"Both tents are cavernous. ... You can put a tablet in there and watch shows as a family."

"The full mesh ceiling and walls let it breathe incredibly well"

"Nah, too heavy. ... It’s heavy af though, my wife could barely lift and fold it. ... We had a vista v2 and it was way too heavy"

"I wish I’d have known that mine wasn’t Disney compatible! ... I have the uppababy vista 2 and it’s not easy to just collapse and put back up when we got on buses. ... It’s not hard but you have to take the seat out and all that. So we were holding the stroller part, the seat and her. HARD!"

"The Vista is great--I definitely wouldn't travel with it, though. ... I simply would not have taken all the trips I took, especially alone, if I'd had to deal with more complicated gear. ... anytime you want to actually travel anywhere with it you've got to get the carseat out, get all the crap out of the storage basket, fold the stupid stroller, install the stupid carseat, get yourself into the car, then do it all again in reverse when you get out--and that's not adequately describing the emotional stress you feel as a new mom leaving your baby in the backseat of a taxi while you go put the stroller in the trunk."

"It took about 40 family trips with young boys over 2.5 years to have the kingdom pretty warn out. ... I just remembered that I swapped it out at REI halfway because the zipper eats holes in the rain fly, so really less than 2 years of hard use and it’s shot."

"The poles also bend too easy. ... One windstorm and it was never exactly in the right shape again."

"I have had some significant challenges with REI branded gear specific to the zippers and poles in tents (had a Kingdom 8)."

You can find a used REI kingdom for that cost. We really love ours

The BC6 is amazing… it is super durable and easy to set up. At 5’4” you might struggle a little at first with set up, especially in the wind, but once you do it a bunch of times… it is easy to do. (poles are all color coordinated and chorded together. I use it beach camping so it stands up to the wind… and has plenty of mesh to be breezy on those hot days. Given the sale… I would recommend. I really miss the kingdome 6 and 8… it had a built in screen porch side that gave you the choice to have a tent and screen porch all in one. A true glamping tent! If you get it, post photos!

No but Coleman is typically low to mid grade, I'd recommend higher quality brands like Big Agnes, REI, Marmot, etc. which you can probably find for a price pretty close to that (especially if there's a sale). I mostly hammock camp these days, but I also have a fair amount of tent experience in an REI Kingdom (big, decent for car camping) and a Big Agnes Seedhouse (small, light, great 2 person tent).

Me too, I have the half dome plus for trips where packing volume matters but weight is not an issue and also because it is more roomy and made of more robust fabrics. I do a fair amount of trips that start with a flight so a lighter tent that takes up less room is a must. Copper Spur is perfect though I have also used a 20+ pound REI Kingdome when space was less of an issue.

Any reason why you want it connected? I’ve had an REI Kingdom for years and love it. You could connect its “garage” via tarp

REI Wonderland is hard to beat. I had the predecessor, the Kingdom and absolutely loved it. The full mesh ceiling and walls let it breathe incredibly well, and the (almost) full length rain fly let it hold up incredibly in bad weather. And since it's a tunnel and not a dome, it's peak height runs the whole length.

The Wonderland (currently) only comes in a 4, and 6 person version. But the "titanium" version (no, the poles aren't titanium) is [currently on clearance. ](https://www.rei.com/product/227867/rei-co-op-wonderland-6-titanium-tent) If you're okay with a 6 person, my personal favorite is the [Nemo Aurora Highrise](https://www.rei.com/product/241349/nemo-aurora-highrise-6-person-tent). The Kingdom was one of the best things REI ever made for the cost. Glad it served you well.

I’ve had both of those tents. I hung the kingdom out to dry during an overnight stop at my cousins on the way back from the boundary waters and took off without it. Stopped at REI in KC and they had the wawona returned for $160, so I bought it. I didn’t have the extended vestibules for either. I give the kingdoms the advantage in comfort. The pockets are perfect and everywhere. The Wawona seems better constructed and better materials. It took about 40 family trips with young boys over 2.5 years to have the kingdom pretty warn out. I just remembered that I swapped it out at REI halfway because the zipper eats holes in the rain fly, so really less than 2 years of hard use and it’s shot. The poles also bend too easy. One windstorm and it was never exactly in the right shape again. The wawona is about the same weight, but everything is sturdier. Thicker poles, mesh and fabric. Better zippers. No deforming after storms. I miss the stow pockets for the tent doors every time I use it. The pockets feel minimalist. The ones on the back door don’t help that much because it self empties when you unzip it. You can put a tablet in there and watch shows as a family. Both tents are cavernous. You need to stake everything out if there is going to be a storm. If you put the wawona with the front door facing away from the wind it actually does well in heavier weather.

>staying cool will be more important than staying warm if that's relevant. Have you slept overnight outside in the desert yet? In my experience, unless it's high summer, night in the desert gets colder than you'd expect, and air mattresses suck the heat out of you quickly. (I have both small backpacking tents and a biiig REI Kingdom 8. I'll almost always go with a tent I can stand in when car camping! )

We have the kingdom with the garage. Perfect for four. Garage is great place to store things and make a rainproof hang out area. Good pockets. Easy to put up and down for a big tent. We have had some other rei tents destroyed in windstorms but in spite of its size - it has held firm. Even repels buffalo:)
