I have an older version of the REI Wonderland 4 tent and love it. Easy to stand up in it at 5’ 7”
REI Wonderland 4. Massive headroom. Two huge doors. With the optional vestibule(s - it can have 2 attached) you have a ridiculous amount of space.
I love my REI Wonderland tent. Being able to stand up in it, add up to 2 extra vestibules and unzip both ends of the living space for airflow is wonderful in hotter weather. There might be others out there which are similar, but this is definitely the most comfortable car-camping tent I have used. On sale for a few more days too
For the hundredth time. REI's Wonderland 4 or 6 with the mudroom/s. My absolute favorite car camping tent.
REI Wonderland 4 or 6, they are amazing
I have a similar heat intolerance, I have a REI Wonderland 4/6, an old surplus cot, and a portable tent air conditioner. This set up requires a power source.
REI wonderland has been great and often goes on sale. You can also buy the “gear garage” which is designed to attach to it which gives you a massive vestibule sort of like the wawona
REI Wonderland is hard to beat. I had the predecessor, the Kingdom and absolutely loved it. The full mesh ceiling and walls let it breathe incredibly well, and the (almost) full length rain fly let it hold up incredibly in bad weather. And since it's a tunnel and not a dome, it's peak height runs the whole length.
Check out the REI Wonderland. It’s an update on the Kingdom (which I have and am the same height). It’s big and good for car camping. Been quite happy with it and have gone through summer monsoon and stayed dry.
I’ve never had issues with it. It is big and heavy so def for car campers. I have the six person with an 8 person footprint so I have some extra space for the additional covered area. Plenty of room for a couple people and a dog. And I can basically stand up in it.
Also don’t disregard REI brand tents. My husband and I have been using a 4 person REI tent for several years now and it’s sustained a few solid rainstorms. It’s similar to the westward model! Also If you have an in person REI near you check the “re-sale” section, great way to snag stuff at a deal. As you go to upgrade I’d upgrade things based on what erks you when camping and you wish was just a bit easier or more comfortable. For us being able to stand up to get dressed in the tent was huge, and we prioritized a taller tent pretty quickly and oversized bc we usually travel in chilly weather to go fishing. So having space to store our layers inside and use our vehicle for only fishing gear has made it much much easier to stay organized!
That really does look like a decent option. I appreciate the input! Yeah, I currently have two REI tents, one solo backpacker - I think it’s called the Passenger 1 - and a four person tent I can stand up in (also can’t remember what it’s called). That one is exclusively a car camper as it’s big, bulky, and weighs like 12 pounds. Both have design flaws I’d like to see improved, while excelling in other ways. That one you’re pointing me to is cheap enough I can try it out and if I’m not wild about it, I won’t feel like I got screwed. Thanks!
