If you catch the Wonderland X on sale it's like the older, Ivy League version of the Kingdom line. I don't know much about Canvas tents, newer materials may have changed things but when I last camped in one (over 20 years ago) if it was wet and you touched it you would get wet. It would basically hold water and not allow a flow through, but if you touched it that held water would wick onto you. Had to make sure you weren't close to the walls when sleeping or you could make contact and wake up wet. They to breathe very well unlike plastic tents so mesh isn't quite as needed as the fabric (when not wet) will allow vapor through.
r/camping • New canvas tent - white duck outdoors ->My summary between the two would be exactly the same. We ended up going with the Wonderland X because we caught it on a massive sale and it still had similar features to the Wawona.
r/CampingGear • Need a 6 person tent. Down to 2 options. ->it's a ridiculous tent but the REI wonderlandX is the best tend I've ever owned for car camping. It's super roomy inside and I can stand up easily but I'm not as tall as you.... The pyramid tents are blah in comparison. If you get it 50% off it's a decent deal.... I love this tent. 1/3 is a big vestibule or porch and 2/3 is internal tent space. Great venting options and staking options. It's a 4 person but really 3 adults.
r/camping • Looking for a high-quality tent for car camping in Utah ->If I understand correctly, the Wonderland X is basically the same tent at the Kingdom 6, but with a very different way of erecting the tent. With the Wonderland X, you setup the rainfly and then the tent, again - about the same size as the kingdom 6, hangs from the rain fly. I bought one and thought it was a reasonably clever idea. Initially I liked it. But I quickly found that the thing was a friggin' sail that just wanted to head south to the tropics unless the weather was almost dead calm. Even with 16 guy lines I ended up with two bent poles in just four or five trips. And the pegs for the guy lines are worthless unless you're in good soil, which is often not the case. So I took advantage of REI's return policy and took that one back.
r/camping • New canvas tent - white duck outdoors ->I caught the [REI Wonderland X](https://www.rei.com/product/202276/rei-co-op-wonderland-x-tent) at 70% off, it's everything I want in a car camping tent and has better stability in storms than most cabins. Big, big fan of this tent
r/camping • Any reason not to get a bigger tent. ->REI wonderland has been great and often goes on sale. You can also buy the “gear garage” which is designed to attach to it which gives you a massive vestibule sort of like the wawona
r/camping • Affordable 6 person tent ->I think they call it the REI WONDERLAND nowadays. We have the kingdom and it's a fantastic tent.
r/camping • Family tent recommendations ->Check out the Wonderland series from REI. Mine withstood hurricane Debbie last year. Plenty of headroom plus they included some nice mesh pockets along the walls to maximize the vertical storage. It's a little much for one person but I usually pack heavy so it's nice to be able to fit EVERYTHING in the tent and not have to change lying down.
r/CampingGear • Tent to stand up in ->REI Wonderland is hard to beat. I had the predecessor, the Kingdom and absolutely loved it. The full mesh ceiling and walls let it breathe incredibly well, and the (almost) full length rain fly let it hold up incredibly in bad weather. And since it's a tunnel and not a dome, it's peak height runs the whole length.
r/camping • Car camping tent recommendations ->We tried a Kodiak canvas tent and traded it for an REI Wunderland (or whatever it’s called). The canvas one took up massive space in the truck. It’s huge folded up. It’s heavy af. The REI huge one was perfect.
r/overlanding • Tent Recommendations ->I love my REI Wonderland tent. Being able to stand up in it, add up to 2 extra vestibules and unzip both ends of the living space for airflow is wonderful in hotter weather. There might be others out there which are similar, but this is definitely the most comfortable car-camping tent I have used. On sale for a few more days too
r/CampingGear • "Luxury" Gear for a Backpacker-Turned-Car-Camper ->If a ten person tent is your jam go for it. I have a six person tent I use for the campgrounds. I will only put it up if I am staying at least three days. I use my REI four person for anything less than that. We don’t spend much time in the tent. It’s just for sleeping.
r/camping • is it normal to bring a 12 or 10 person tent for a couple? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
