I love my stupid little trekking tent. I use the V1 from River Country: https://www.rivercountryproducts.com/product/trekker-tent-1v/ This thing is my favorite purchase mostly because I have decided that yes, trekking poles are a good idea. Used in Front Rang camp grounds, a few high altitude lakes, and in the Mobile,AL area. Great value too. Want space for your pack to fit better? Get the 2.2 version.
I got my River Country Trekker 2 on Amazon a few years ago for $60. It seems they no longer sell on Amazon but you can still get it directly from them for like 70. I used it for backpacking and hunting for 5 years before upgrading to a Zpacks Duplex this summer. It's a really well made tent that I got a lot of good use out of. It won't compete with a DCF ultralight, but for a 10th of the price you get a reasonably backpack friendly option with a full bathtub floor, the option to pitch with either trekking poles or a ridge line, room for two or very comfortably one plus gear, and while it's not a two-layer tent, it has enough ventilation that I never had any issues with condensation in both hot and cold weather. Whether it's best for you is a judgment call, but you could do a lot worse than taking a look. If you don't mind spending a little bit more money, OneTigris and A few other popular budget equipment brands should be looked at as well.
