My shiftpod 2 had minor mold issues that I've since corrected and it handled the burn/rain excellently. While I was going through the mold issues asking for advice and if they had some kind of replacement program their support just ghosted me. Friends shiftpod 3 had its poles break before the burn and the company refused to do anything about it. New camp mate had the new expedition and seemed to not have troubles with it. Unfortunately the shift pods in general you need to kind of baby and they seem to have a good number of minor failure points if things go wrong. They don't explain all the anti-mold stuff you need to do. And their support is god awful, worst I've seen from any company. I really love mine but there's so many caveats to it and it's a shame.
We have the predecessor, the SHIFTPOD III XL. The first time we used it, one of the zippers on the bag broke (the pull tab just ripped right out). Then two of the handles on the bag broke. Then the main “garage door” zipper. Over the course of the burn, the other two zippers on the garage door failed. We had to use Flex Seal to close it up. We had massive dust incursions from the gaps around the Midea on the floor zipper position (ours is the older style, before the purpose built place), then we had a small flood from the same when we got the rain. At the end of the burn, we were unable go get the zippers on the bag to close at all, and just shoved the whole thing into our trailer and let Jesus take the wheel. I have to contact an outdoor gear repair company to handle the zippers on the door, and I’m going to ask that they fully replace them rather than try any kind of repair that will inevitably fail because shiftpod zippers were made by the devil himself. We have a shiftpod II and have been responsible for several other friends purchasing theirs, but it’s such a huge disappointment that we’ve had so many problems with ours, and their warranty is a joke.
