I have a dipole 1 Li. I love it. I've been in cool humid and condensation has been limited when vents have been open. I'm 6'4 220lb and the single is plenty big enough. I got the dipole instead of the Durston because 1) I'm tall, the end struts make for much more usable space and 2) the dipole has a smaller footprint, the Durston from what I understand, requires a big area to pitch.
r/Ultralight • Tarptent Dipole 2 Li vs Duston X-Mid Pro 2 For Hot/Humid Weather ->I thought about the xmid and the Tarptent Dipole. Ended up with the Dipole because I'm tall and I didnt like the large footprint required to set up the Tarptent. I got the 1p and it's huge in the inside (for a ul tent).

r/Ultralight • 2 person tent recommendations ->I have a dipole Li. It's about the same weight as the Durston, but can be pitched in a smaller area and is better for tall people due to the struts.
r/Ultralight • New Tarptent's MesoSpire 2: A Hidden Champion? ->The struts are the reason many (including me) by TT. They create a lot more usable space in the tent. The struts limit the interior space getting cramped by sloping sidewalls. I'm pretty tall, I have a Dipole 1 Li. I love it. A ton of space for me.
r/Ultralight • TarpTent Stratospire 2 opinions ->All Tarptent tents have end struts, which makes them good for tall people. I'm 6'4" and have a Dipole, I love it. Plenty of room.
r/Ultralight • LF advice for (first) tarp tent as a tall person ->I'm only 6'4", I have a dipole 1, I have probably 8" of extra space , you should be fine. Tarptent has these little poles at the ends of the tent which makes the space much more usable than many tents. Tarptents are trecking pole tents that are single wall. They are lighter than free-standing tents. I paid extra for the 'ultralight' version, but they have a normal/sil-poly version that is more affordable. I love my tent, but you have to decide if you want a single wall tent or not.
r/backpacking • Backpacking tent for a tall person ->All single wall tents have some level of condensation. Some are a little better than others, but all require you to manage it through site selection and ventilation. Also bring a small towel/microfiber to wipe down the inside. I'm unfamiliar with your location, but I can keep enough ventilation in my tent (tarptent dipole Li) to keep condensation to a very low level.
r/Ultralight • Help me choose a weather worthy tent ->Have a dipole li 1 now (had the pro 1 previously)… the vents on the dipole make a huge difference in KY weather. I’ve tried a few different 1 person tents and the li1 has more ventilation than anything other than a tarp/bivy or hammock
r/Ultralight • Tarptent Dipole 2 Li vs Duston X-Mid Pro 2 For Hot/Humid Weather ->LOVE my dipole li1… came from lunar solo/altraplex/xmidpro1/solomid1 and now this…
r/Ultralight • New Tarptent's MesoSpire 2: A Hidden Champion? ->One thing to add is to be careful going off the spec sheet floor length alone. Just because a tent has a longer floor does not mean it will have more usable length. For example, our Dipole 1 Li has much more usable length than our Aeon Li, even though the Aeon Li has a longer floor. You want to look at the tent design and asses how high from the ground the fly is near the floor ends. If it gets too low, you will be cramped or even touching the fly with your bag, even if there is technically more floor length on the spec sheet.
r/Ultralight • Single Person Tent suggestions based on specific criteria ->It’s like a half pound heavier what are you talking about lol
r/Ultralight • New Tarptent's MesoSpire 2: A Hidden Champion? ->Yes but if one cannot fit in it then it does not matter what the weight savings is.
r/Ultralight • New Tarptent's MesoSpire 2: A Hidden Champion? ->I have no issues in UK neither with Dipole LI as a summer tent, nor with Tarptent Scarp (solid) as a winter tent. First is like 650g, second is 1300.
r/Ultralight • Ultralight (ish) tent that can deal with wind ->To me, the dipole is the best tent on the market, but this tent looks really nice too.
r/Ultralight • New Tarptent's MesoSpire 2: A Hidden Champion? ->You would have more potential airflow in the Dipole. With our tent you can fully open the sides (both the main door panel and the smaller vestibule panel) and the doors are overhanging so you do this in light rain (or half open things in heavier rain). With 2 doors it’s quite a bit of airflow/crossflow, but the Dipole can open the ends too so it has even more potential airflow. For other options, a double wall tent that can pitch inner only would be the absolute max airflow on a hot night. For singlewalls, Zpacks has nice options too that are popular in Florida (eg Zpacks is based there).
r/Ultralight • Tarptent Dipole 2 Li vs Duston X-Mid Pro 2 For Hot/Humid Weather ->This is inaccurate. Ultralight does not mean making these sacrifices. There are well designed and poorly designed ultralight tents, though there are fewer and fewer poorly designed products given how few customers there are and the amount of research a typical consumer does. Modern fabrics have absurd strength for their weight. Modern ultralight tents can be as feature rich, weather resistant, well ventilated and roomy as a heavier tent. Compare the Xdome and Tarptent dipole with a heavier tent; there is no trade off other than cost (and in the case of the xdome, even that isn’t true).
r/hikinggear • Is an ultralight tent worth it? ->Both are single wall tents, which means condensation is a bit of a challenge to overcome. No amount of airflow will completely prevent condensation, many people in that type of weather usually have a door open if weather permits. I’d personally go for the Durston, because well… it’s a Durston, but the Dipole has 4 more sq. ft. For a third option, freestanding tents are always an option, and you can always split up the parts to make it lighter. I like the MSR hubba hubba because it’s close to 20oz per person, and it’s fairly spacious. Any double wall tents help with minimizing condensation, but might feel stuffier.
r/Ultralight • Tarptent Dipole 2 Li vs Duston X-Mid Pro 2 For Hot/Humid Weather ->Tarptent all the way - has kept me dry and cozy for thuousands of kilometers in snow, rain and heat. I have never owned a better ultralight tent. Bonus: you buy from a small, independent company, founded and owned by a great guy - when I bought my first one (years back) he answered all my questions personally… What a legend!
