I have the North Face Homestead Super Dome 4 and it's been great! It has a large front screen door opening to a good sized vestibule, plus 2 side doors that are both tall enough to easily walk through. The back 1/3rd of the tent with the 2 doors has a built-in rain fly, and the doors both have half-circle screen windows for ventilation. These doors are great for 2 people sleeping in the tent, as each person has their own door to exit with just a single zipper to open, should one have to pee in the middle of the night w/o disturbing the other too much. With the fly off, most of the front 2/3rds of the tent is screen, so it's great for star-gazing. Inside it has lots of gear pockets down low and a laundry cord around the perimeter up high. Pretty simple 3 pole design I can set up by myself in about 20 minutes. The footprint is sold separately, unfortunately. Space wise, I use a queen Alps Mountaineering air mattress and I have plenty of room to navigate around 3 sides of the bed standly mostly upright, with plenty of room at the foot for a paco pad or dog bed.
I use a 4 person NF Super Dome tent myself and it's great! I have a queen air mattress with enough room to move around 3 sides of the bed standing upright in most places. Takes me 20+ minutes to set up by self. I love it. Your experience setting up a 6 person tent by yourself, however, will probably vary greatly depending on the style and weight of the tent and your own capabilities. Before I got my NF tent, I borrowed a very cumbersome, heavy duty 6 person tent from a friend and I could barely set the thing up myself (and I'm a strong dude that works construction). I'd say, while a 6 person tent is almost certainly overkill for 1 person lol, you should definitely not deprive yourself of a comfortable setup! In any case, make sure you set tent up once in your yard before you go camping.
North Face Homestead Super Dome 4. Sets up really easily. I’m admittedly now a person that brings an air mattress camping. Fits my queen sized one with no issue. The top is all mesh if you use it without the rain fly, if you ever take it somewhere dry to camp and see stars at night. Windows/vents all around the tent. Has built in clothes lines in the interior. Has a small foyer to give you a dry place to take off and store your boots before hopping in your tent. Took it camping this past Memorial Day weekend through constant rain storms, tent remained completely dry inside. My boots remained dry sitting out in the foyer. Comes in a small carrying bag that is pulled tighter with a cord rather than relying on a zipper. Truly the best tent I’ve ever had. Got it from sierra for $199
[North Face Homestead Super Dome 4](https://www.thenorthface.com/en-us/p/bags-and-gear/tents-211750/homestead-super-dome-4-tent-NF0A52VD) This has been our go to tent for 7+ years of heavy use, first as a couple now with a toddler. Official website says $350, but often on sale for <$300. I think it was designed as a festival tent (super livable, roomy, airy, easy setup), but is a high quality North Face product. I can stand up in it at 6’2”. Great storage pockets, 3 doors, mesh top when you wanna see the stars. This thing did 2+ months of cross country road trip with no issues and superior durability. I keep saying I want another of the same, but the original is still going strong with no need for replacement. Would recommend the matching footprint (not included) and heavy duty hammer-in stakes.
I have tent envy hahah. We have a 6p Kelty tent for the rare occasions when my partner and pup come camping. (1x per year lol). My preferred car camping tent for just me is Northface homestead dome-y 4. It’s like a cabin and I love it.
10yo might be on the edge. those light weight fabrics of the outher shell become sticky over time and loose their waterproofness. polyesther/nylon can't be re-impregnated. my North Face Chatanooga lost it after some 15 years, while poles, zippers and inner tent are still OK. sealing of the sewing is also to check. never found a replacement for the tape that is used, but without the tent will be leaky. below €100 you *could* have fun for a few years, but no guarantee.
I've got a Eureka 3 man which good for 2 people and gear, nice tent, full fly. And 2 North Faces- a 4 man and an old 2 man. They are awesome but definitely pricey. I like a good nights sleep so I pony up $$. I'm out west and also need to have a solid tent for shoulder season snow, especially the wet stuff and summer wind down bursts from thunderstorms. Strictly aluminum poles is my rule. NC weather is definitely different (I'm from WNC) like harder T. storms, tropical storms and worse but I'm not camping when a hurricane is coming through
