I have a Ford escape and have the timber ridge 5 person suv tent with movie screen. we absolutely love it. we sleep in the trunk but it lets us set our stuff out of the car and easy to set up with 2 people. I haven't tried setting it up solo yet. I was worried about water proofing but we got caught in 8 straight hours of torrential rain and the inside was dry with no issues.

My son and I went camping with mine recently. Worked well for us… he’s 9 yrs old, and I’m short and less than 200 lbs so we fit just fine. This was the tent I used: https://a.co/d/cnJBF7Y With this mattress: https://a.co/d/0G7fX0t

Setup was maybe 20 minutes. Did it myself… I was just tall enough to get the top canopy on (I’m 5’ 5”). Maybe 25 minutes to take down just because you gotta make sure it fits back in the carry bag. It was surprisingly easy. I setup the tent before inflating the mattress.

Yeah the main tent poles are sturdy, feels like aluminum and about 1/2” to 5/8” diameter. Canopy has an overhang for entry.. that part uses the standard tent pole size..1/4” or whatever.

I have one. It’s nice overall. But it’s only me, my wife, and dog. Most annoying part is getting the straps in and around the back wheels. The car to tent connection is fine as it’s snug underneath. There are some air gaps on the side. My partner is a craft person so we had some extra magnet strips we just lay on top to close the air gaps. I’m sure other people have other solutions. Overall though, we don’t use it much. It’s been more fun to bring out other tent since it’s a pop up and slightly bigger. We use it like a living room/ indoor hang area. I will say: be mindful of the straps and clips on top. During testing, I laid out the straps on top to see how to anchor it to my roof/front windshield with the suction cups. I had my trunk up and wanted to check how the tent would react once I closed the trunk. I didn’t notice until it was too late that a plastic clip from the tent strap was in the groove so when the trunk tried to close- it crunched down and cracked my roof glass :(

We used the Timber Ridge for a year and a half, almost every day. It withstood wind pretty well (high elevation mountain camping) was dry in rain, but way too hot in the sun. After that much use, the tent became very brittle, ripping easily and eventually fell apart. But we used it much more than the average person. So under normal use, it will stand up very well in most weather conditions. We mainly used it for cooking, changing, etc because we also sleep in the car with AC.
