Np. I own airspeed 6 for family of 4 and xl dog. No issues or complains. Good luck.
Second the zempire aerospeed recommendation. I have the aerospeed 6. It’s lovely. So well built. BUT keep in mind air tents are heavier than traditional tents. Easier to pitch but harder to maneuver and stow.
You're asking two questions here: 1. What kind of tent should I get, and then 2. which one to buy? 1. Kind of tent: \- Snow Peak Land Lock - boutique / Japanese tents - no experience here other than that they seem lovely but the pricing is crazy. \- Zempire - Inflatable tent - there are several other brands here. \- Gazelle - Pop-up tent \- Wawona - Traditional pole and two layer fly tent If money is no object, and depending on your camping vehicle, you COULD consider a rooftop tent. There are models that can accommodate 2 adults + 1 kid. 2. Which one to buy: There are multiple brands to consider within each category, but you got the nice ones. I've mostly used traditional tents for the last 15 years of camping. Wawona gets the best reviews these days. I've tried it out. It's very nice. I recently bought the cheaper Zempire Aerospeed 6. This is my favorite type of tent right now. The air poles can bear more weight so the materials are heavier duty and have really nice organization inside. The biggest downside with inflatable tents is that they are heavy. The Zempire Pro is crazy heavy. The TL is 75 pounds (vs. 20 pounds for the Wawona). I haven't used the Pro but most youtubers I've seen seem to agree that it's a better option if you're going somewhere for multiple days and really want luxury and space. So I know price is no issue, but the more pragmatic choices are traditional like Wawona or inflatable like Zempire. If you're not sure what kind you want, I'd buy someplace like REI that has a generous return policy, and try it out first.
yes, i think this is what we have decided on. looks solid
If anyone is looking for an air tent I’ll point out a few flaws in this design to look out for. I work in sales, and am very critical of anything air related for use in the outdoors. Too many hard corners. These are all places the tent will buckle, push on the side of the tent and I guarantee you the walls will fold over. A good design should have sloped walls and curved beams so that forces are distributed evenly across the air tube. They work best when they support the tent via outward pressure against the fly/skin on the tent. Look for large arcs in the air tubes. Untensioned fabric, this will flap in the wind, be loud, and throw condensation over everything in your tent. Ventilation. These things are greenhouses. You NEED ventilation if you plan on using it in the summer and being inside while the sun is out. You want to be able to basically funnel wind into the tent. I see some vents but not enough to escape the heat. You’ll probably need a gazebo too if there isn’t any shade at the campsite. With all that said, look at Zempire. Their warranty team is easy to work with and they’ve been making air tents since 2004. I’m biased because I want to work there and I’m proud that they come from my home country of Aotearoa (New Zealand). But yeah nah, everything I mentioned is visible in their designs. I highly recommend the Aerospeed series. Just don’t buy the shapeshifter (yet) the parts come in their own bags and it’s a pain in the proverb to unzip all the modules and bag them up. They need to release a big bag that the whole assembly fits into.
Zempire Aerospeed series, not cheap but Zempire make quality gear. However, the Aerospeed series isn't freestanding. If you must have a free-standing tent, go for the Pro series. Heimplanet is another one, but that's bloody expensive. I have their discontinued Pronto 4 and can say it's really the best out there.
