The larger Zempire tents have airpoles, which are strong tubes that you pump up with air. I was skeptical myself until I saw one at the campground, and they're brilliant. They are quick to erect and lightweight. The pumping itself part is quick and easy until the last few PSI when you use their high pressure hand pump just to put the extra charge into it. Once that's done, they are rock solid strong.
I have a zempire air tent that I absolutely love and will never go back to a regular tent. Only downside is they are a lot heavier in the bag and I wouldn’t say setup is quicker but not dealing with poles is a definite plus.
Ohh yea. The inflating is the easiest part of the setup. All the time is spent on staking.
I love my Zempire. They are heavy and they take a lot of stakes to fully set up, but once it's rolled out I can get hammering while me 8yo pumps. Doesn't take too long to do.
Have found the Zempire air frame tents to be pretty bomb proof in my experience. I love the Oztents too - can't go wrong with them, but they're pretty long when packed.
Depends what you are willing to pay really. I have a NZ company one (zempire) that is about 6-7 years old now, it goes up at various spots for up to about 4-6 weeks (2-3 weeks for one big camp in our summer Christmas/new year period, then another 2-3 weeks worth all up over long weekends etc) total a year in harsh NZ sun and through autumnal storms and hurricanes here. I will keep it until it dies (that will probably be quite awhile given how it is actually holding up so far) then buy one of the canvas indlatables at that point. Takes me 10-15 minutes to inflate both the tent and gazebo, and it is a huge space too. It would take less on a newer model if you used a decent electric pump too. I know others who have gotten cheap ones and they do in fact suck big time. It depends on what you get.
